How much does the 2025 Mazda CX-5 cost?

Prices have softened 8.02% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 809 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-5 a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Mazda CX-5 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

It stands out as a sporty compact SUV that gives you practicality without giving up driving enjoyment, and it does so in an attractive, upscale package. The main trade-offs are rear-seat space and cargo capacity, along with fuel economy that trails some rivals.

Good and great deals percentage: 21.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-5 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The CX-5 is presented as a refined, well-built compact SUV with a premium-feeling cabin and a driving character that has remained appealing over time. Its expert evaluation also notes that the systems operated as they should during testing, with no false alarms or technical glitches.

The 2.5-litre engine and six-speed automatic are straightforward, proven components, and the available turbocharged setup adds performance without changing the basic formula. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the same strengths that make it appealing can also mean you may accept compromises in space and efficiency.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Mazda CX-5?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim gives you the CX-5’s attractive styling and premium feel, but it lacks some of the richer equipment found higher up the range. You’ll want to compare cabin materials, convenience features, and safety add-ons carefully if you’re shopping entry-level.
• Powertrain: You can choose between a 2.5-litre four-cylinder and a Turbo model with much stronger output. The base engine is adequate for most drivers, while the Turbo feels more confident and quicker.
• Safety package: Every trim includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. Higher trims add adaptive headlights, Cruise & Traffic Assist, a 360-degree camera, a driver attention monitor, and front and rear parking sensors.
• Infotainment: All models use a 10.25-inch display with a dial-based controller. Lower trims require a USB cable for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the midrange Premium Plus trim adds wireless phone integration and a wireless charging pad.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine is estimated at 10.2 L/100 km in city driving, 8.2 on the highway, and 9.3 combined. With cylinder deactivation on some trims, those figures improve to 9.1 city, 7.7 highway, and 8.5 combined. The Turbo engine is rated at 10.8 city, 8.7 highway, and 9.8 combined.

Which 2025 Mazda CX-5 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Mazda CX-5 is offered in 5 trim levels: GX, GS, GT, Premium Plus, Turbo Signature.

Here's the short version:

• GX: This is the entry point, and it gives you the CX-5’s core strengths at the lowest price. It comes with keyless entry and heated front seats, plus the standard safety suite, so it makes sense if you want the Mazda look and driving feel without stretching your budget.
• GS: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds dual-zone climate control and synthetic leather seat upholstery on top of the base setup. If you want a more polished cabin without jumping too far in price, this is the trim to focus on.
• GT: This trim adds adaptive headlights, a head-up display, and Cruise & Traffic Assist. It suits you if you want a more relaxed daily drive and a stronger premium feel.
• Premium Plus: This is the sweet spot if you want more modern tech, because it adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charging pad, and a head-up display. It’s the trim to target if convenience matters most.
• Turbo Signature: This is the most luxurious and most powerful choice, with genuine leather upholstery, upgraded trim elements, a 360-degree camera, a driver attention monitor, and front and rear parking sensors. It’s the right pick if you want the strongest performance and the richest feature set.

All CX-5 trim levels include the standard advanced safety features, while the GT and Turbo Signature add extra driver-assistance equipment.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Mazda CX-5?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 21.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 809 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.02% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $33,512 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Mazda CX-5's resale value?

The current average of $34,230 CAD sits slightly below last year's $37,215 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favourable point, but it also means future sellers may face a market that is still adjusting downward. If you own one for several years, the CX-5’s premium feel and sporty reputation should help support demand, especially among shoppers who value driving enjoyment over maximum utility.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Mazda CX-5 safe?

The 2025 Mazda CX-5 earns five-star ratings in all NHTSA evaluations except rollover protection, where it receives a four-star rating. It scores well in IIHS crash tests, but its standard collision avoidance system, Smart City Brake Support Front, receives a Poor rating.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Every trim comes with forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, and adaptive cruise control. The GT trim adds adaptive headlights, a head-up display, and Cruise & Traffic Assist, while the Turbo Signature adds a 360-degree camera, a driver attention monitor, and front and rear parking sensors.

The weak point to note is the Poor rating for the standard collision avoidance system, so you should pay close attention to how the safety tech performs in real-world use.

Should I buy a 2025 Mazda CX-5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 21.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.02% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It balances sporty driving feel with an upscale cabin, while still carrying over the CX-5’s familiar formula.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $32,665 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $34,230 CAD average.
• It remains a compelling choice for buyers who want style, quality, and enjoyable driving.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It brings a full redesign with more space, more technology, and standard all-wheel drive.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of price movement, strong owner satisfaction, and the familiar CX-5 driving experience, the 2025 is the one to target. If your priority is spending less, the 2024 is the smarter value play; if you want the newest design and more space, the 2026 is the better fit.
