How much does the 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz cost?

Is the 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz a good car?

The 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz earns an 8/10 expert rating, and it is aimed at you if you want a small truck for weekend DIY projects, hauling bulky items, and carrying adventure gear on day trips.

The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.

It stands out for being fun to drive, offering impressive technology, and backing that up with a great warranty. The trade-offs are clear: its styling may not appeal to everyone, and it gives up some practicality with a cramped back seat and limited cargo space.

With 28.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz reliable?

The 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz is presented as a well-supported small truck with a strong warranty and a focus on everyday versatility rather than hard-use capability.

Its turbocharged engine runs on regular gas, which helps keep ownership simpler, and the expert assessment describes it as a good little sport truck if that is what you are after. The performance notes also point to a few mechanical compromises, including the quirky dual-clutch transmission and the way the all-terrain tyres affect on-road behaviour.

Hyundai’s warranty and the model’s tech-heavy design are positives for long-term ownership, but used buyers should still weigh the transmission behaviour, brake performance under load, and the truck’s limited utility against their needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes Preferred, XRT, and Ultimate. The base trim gets the core truck and tech package, while the XRT adds a more rugged look with an improved approach angle and standard all-terrain tyres, and the Ultimate adds more premium equipment.
• Powertrain: All trims use a turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with standard all-wheel drive. The engine makes 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque, and it runs on regular gas. The XRT uses an eight-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which can feel quirky in traffic and under acceleration.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and lane-keep assist. Starting with the XRT, you also get intersection collision braking, a surround-view camera system, blind-spot cameras, and adaptive cruise control with automatic speed adjustment for curves. Highway Driving Assist is standard on the Ultimate.
• Infotainment: Every trim gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen with navigation, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, Bluelink connected services, and over-the-air software updates. Wireless smartphone charging is standard on the XRT and Ultimate.
• Fuel efficiency: The Preferred and Ultimate trims are rated at 10.7 L/100 km combined, while the XRT is rated at 11.1 L/100 km combined.

Which 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz trim should I buy?

The 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz is offered in 3 trim levels: Preferred, XRT, and Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• Preferred: This is the entry point if you want the Santa Cruz’s core strengths without paying for the extra off-road and convenience gear. It gives you the standard turbocharged engine, AWD, and the full 12.3-inch infotainment setup.
• XRT: This is the most distinctive trim, with the improved approach angle, all-terrain tyres, surround-view camera system, blind-spot cameras, adaptive cruise control with curve speed adjustment, and wireless charging. It is the right pick if you want the rugged look and extra equipment, but it is also the least efficient version.
• Ultimate: This is the best-value trim if you care most about on-road refinement and the most complete feature set. The expert notes specifically favour the Ultimate over the XRT for better on-road driving dynamics, and it adds Highway Driving Assist.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 146 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.30% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $38,442 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz's resale value?

The current average of $38,477 CAD sits slightly below last year's $42,424 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Santa Cruz is currently more buyer-friendly than it was a year ago. If you plan to sell later, you should expect the market to remain sensitive to condition, trim, and equipment because shoppers can compare your truck against a fairly broad spread of similarly priced alternatives.

For you as a future seller, the strongest resale case will likely come from a well-kept example with desirable equipment and clear service history. The current trend also means you may not recover as much of your purchase price as you would have when values were higher.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz safe?

The 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz earns a “Marginal” rating in the latest moderate overlap frontal-impact assessment from IIHS, and the driver assistance technologies receive that same rating for their effectiveness in preventing a front crash.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane departure warning, and lane-keep assist. Starting with the XRT trim, you also get intersection collision braking, a surround-view camera system, blind-spot cameras, and adaptive cruise control with automatic speed adjustment for curves. Highway Driving Assist is standard on the Ultimate and combines adaptive cruise control with lane-centring assist for highway use.

The main caveat is the IIHS result, which points to a weakness in frontal-impact protection and in the effectiveness of the driver-assistance system for crash prevention.

Should I buy a 2025 Hyundai Santa Cruz or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 28.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.30% compared with last year.
• The 2025 adds new tech, styling updates, and off-roading enhancements.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $36,159 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $38,477 CAD average.
• It offers useful truck-like versatility in a compact, quirky package.

The bottom line: Choose the 2025 if you want the latest tech and the most complete Santa Cruz package. If your priority is saving money, the 2024 is the smarter value play, especially if you can find one in good condition with the equipment you want.
