How much does the 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric cost?

Prices have softened 10.25% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 66 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory for you to compare.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric a good car?

The 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric earns an 8.3/10 expert rating and is positioned as Hyundai’s smallest EV, with fresh styling, a long list of features, and a value-focused setup that makes it appealing if you want an electric vehicle without stretching your budget.

The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

Its strengths are easy to see in everyday use: it’s described as competent and comfortable, with standard advanced safety features and a well-equipped cabin. The main trade-offs are fairly pedestrian performance and the lack of all-wheel drive, so you’re giving up some acceleration and traction capability in exchange for value.

With 30.3% of listings priced as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer if you shop carefully.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric reliable?

The 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric is presented as a sensible, value-oriented EV with a five-year, 100,000-kilometre limited warranty and an eight-year, 160,000-kilometre battery and electric-drive-system warranty, which helps reduce early ownership risk.

Its performance is described as competent rather than sporty, and the battery setup is supported by pre-conditioning for DC fast charging. That matters because you’ll likely use the car as a commuter first and a road-trip EV second, so charging habits and battery care are worth paying attention to.

If you’re buying used, the main long-term risk is making sure the battery has been treated well and that the car has been charged and maintained in a way that supports healthy range over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: In Canada, the sole trim level is Preferred, while Trend, Ultimate, and N Line Ultimate packages are available. The base setup includes cloth seating, while the Trend and Ultimate packages add leatherette and the N Line gets its own faux-leather and Alcantara design. If you want the sportiest appearance, the N Line Ultimate package adds special 19-inch wheels, unique front and rear fasciae, and an exclusive bumper with a diffuser.
• Powertrain: You get front-wheel drive only, and all Kona Electrics come with a 64.8-kWh battery pack, 201 hp, and 291 lb-ft of torque. The car is described as competent rather than quick, with acceleration that is fairly pedestrian for the segment.
• Safety package: Every trim comes with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, safe exit warning, a driver attention monitor, and Hyundai’s Highway Driving Assist. The Ultimate and N Line Ultimate packages add parking aids such as a surround-view camera system, parking alerts, Remote Smart Parking Assist, and Blind View Monitor.
• Infotainment: Every Kona Electric gets dual 12.3-inch displays, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and standard native navigation. The Ultimate and N Line Ultimate packages include wireless device charging, and all versions but the base model have Hyundai’s Digital Key.
• Range & charging: The battery pack is 64.8 kWh, range is up to 420 kilometres, and the N Line Ultimate package drops to 370 kilometres. DC fast charging takes more than 40 minutes from 10% to 80%, while home charging should take about five to six hours.
• Battery health: For a used EV, you should check battery state-of-health, ask how often the car was DC fast charged versus charged at home, and confirm how much of the battery warranty remains. A well-kept battery and sensible charging habits matter more than low odometer readings alone.

Which 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric trim should I buy?

The 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric is offered in 4 trim levels: Preferred, Trend, Ultimate, and N Line Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• Preferred: This is the value play if you want the Kona Electric’s core strengths at the lowest entry point. You still get the standard safety suite, dual 12.3-inch displays, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the same 64.8-kWh battery and 201 hp powertrain as the pricier versions.
• Trend: This is the best-value trim if you want a nicer cabin without jumping too far up the price ladder. It adds leatherette seating and keeps the Kona Electric’s strong mix of comfort, tech, and safety intact.
• Ultimate: Choose this if you want the most rounded version for daily use. It adds wireless device charging and parking aids such as the surround-view camera system, parking alerts, Remote Smart Parking Assist, and Blind View Monitor.
• N Line Ultimate: Pick this only if you want the sportiest look. It brings unique styling details, special 19-inch wheels, and a reduced driving range of 370 kilometres, so it makes the most sense if appearance matters more to you than maximum efficiency.

The Ultimate and N Line Ultimate packages also add extra parking and visibility features, which are the most notable safety-package upgrades.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop around without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 66 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.25% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $36,967 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric's resale value?

The current average of $37,010 CAD sits slightly below last year's $41,235 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Kona Electric has become more accessible for used buyers, which can help demand stay steady if you decide to sell later. At the same time, the softer pricing means future resale gains may be limited unless the market tightens again. For you, that points to a vehicle that may be easier to buy well than to count on for strong appreciation.

Is the 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric safe?

The 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric does not have NHTSA or IIHS ratings listed here, but it does come standard with a broad suite of driver-assistance features.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Every trim includes automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, safe exit warning, a driver attention monitor, and Hyundai’s Highway Driving Assist. If you want more parking support, the Ultimate and N Line Ultimate packages add a surround-view camera system, parking alerts, Remote Smart Parking Assist, and Blind View Monitor.

Should I buy a 2025 Hyundai Kona Electric or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 30.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.25% compared with last year.
• This year’s appeal is its value-focused mix of fresh styling, standard safety tech, and strong feature content.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest blend of value, standard equipment, and current-market pricing, the 2025 is the one to focus on. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you may want to keep shopping the market for the best deal rather than rushing into the first clean example you see.
