Is the 2025 Honda Civic a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Honda Civic earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 9/10.

The 2025 Civic is positioned as a mid-cycle refresh of an already well-regarded compact car, and it keeps the focus on everyday usability with driver involvement. You get a fun-to-drive character, a manual transmission option, and available Google Built-In, which makes it appealing if you want a compact car that feels more engaging than purely practical.

The main trade-offs are that all-wheel drive is not available, lane-keeping assist can be irritating, and the manual misses some user-friendly features. Even so, the model’s 30.7% good-and-great deal share suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2025 Honda Civic reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2025 Civic is described as an already well-regarded compact car, and Honda’s updates for this model year aim to improve the overall package without changing its core appeal. The expert review also points to strong everyday usability and a powertrain lineup that remains straightforward for gas-only shoppers.

The performance notes highlight a dependable, familiar setup with a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine in the base Civic and front-wheel drive across the lineup. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about mechanical complexity and more about choosing the version whose features and compromises fit your needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Honda Civic?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX and Sport are the gas-only Civic trims, while the Civic Si adds a more sporty character. The base trim gets standard LED headlights and daytime running lights, but the Si stands out with a sportier grille treatment, red interior accents, and a more distinctive cabin presentation.
• Powertrain: The base Civic uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 150 horsepower and a CVT, while the Civic Si uses a turbocharged inline four-cylinder with 200 horsepower and a six-speed manual. Every Civic is front-wheel drive.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard on all 2025 Civics. It includes an improved collision-mitigation braking system, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist, with updates aimed at smoother operation and better detection of bicycles, motorcycles, and cross traffic.
• Infotainment: The standard Civic gets a 7-inch touchscreen, while the Civic Si upgrades to a 9-inch touchscreen. The Si also adds Alexa Built-In, Google Built-In, wireless smartphone projection, a 12-speaker Bose Premium sound system, and a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster.
• Fuel efficiency: The base Civic LX is rated at 7.3 L/100 km city, 5.7 highway, and 6.6 combined. The Civic Si is rated at 8.7 L/100 km city, 6.4 highway, and 7.7 combined.

Which 2025 Honda Civic trim should I buy?

The 2025 Honda Civic is offered in 3 trim levels: LX, Sport, Civic Si.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the best-value choice if you want the most affordable gas-only Civic and the strongest fuel economy in the lineup. It gives you the core Civic experience with standard safety tech and a simpler feature set.
• Sport: Choose this if you want a step up in equipment and are comfortable paying more for the non-hybrid gas model. It keeps the Civic’s practical character while adding a bit more content.
• Civic Si: This is the enthusiast pick, with the turbocharged engine, six-speed manual, sportier tuning, and the richest tech and driver-display setup in the gas lineup. It’s the one to buy if driving enjoyment matters most.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, and the lane-keeping assist system is noted as a bit aggressive.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Honda Civic?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without waiting forever.

• Deal availability: 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 737 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.49% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $29,355 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Honda Civic's resale value?

The current average of $29,355 CAD sits slightly below last year's $32,080 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has become a little more favourable for buyers, which can put some pressure on future resale expectations. If you plan to sell later, you may need to price competitively to stand out, especially if the market stays soft.

At the same time, the Civic’s broad appeal and strong owner satisfaction help support demand. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Honda Civic safe?

The 2025 Honda Civic earns Top Safety Pick+ recognition from the IIHS and five-star overall ratings from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard on all 2025 Civics, and the suite includes an improved collision-mitigation braking system, adaptive cruise control, and lane-keeping assist. The system is updated to better detect bicycles and motorcycles, and it also improves cross-traffic visibility from the left or right.

One caveat is that lane-keeping assist can still feel a bit aggressive, with steering-wheel vibration that may bother you. Even so, the Civic’s safety package is broad and standard, which makes it a strong point for used buyers.

Should I buy a 2025 Honda Civic or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 30.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.49% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 adds a refreshed look, updated driver-assistance tuning, and available Google Built-In.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $27,554 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $29,355 CAD average.
• It offers an enthusiast-focused manual-driving experience with strong value.

Consider the 2026 if:

• At $32,598 CAD, the 2026 costs more than the current year's $29,355 CAD average.
• It carries over the Civic’s broad powertrain and body-style variety with premium appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of updated tech, strong safety, and a softer market, the 2025 is the smart default. If your priority is saving money, the 2024 is the better value play.
