Is the 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid a good car?

Yes — it earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 8/10.

The 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid adds a new hybrid model to the Civic lineup, bringing more power and significantly improved fuel economy while keeping the car affordable and attractive. It is available in sedan or hatchback body styles, so you can choose the format that best fits your daily routine.

The main trade-off is that all-wheel drive is not available, so if that capability matters to you, this model will not fit the brief. Even so, 28.5% of listings are marked as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Civic Hybrid is positioned as a practical, easy-to-live-with compact car, and its hybrid setup is described as smooth, quiet, and seamless in operation. The powertrain’s electric-motor assistance makes it feel responsive, while the ride is tuned for comfort rather than harshness.

Honda also notes that the hybrid system transitions smoothly between electric and gasoline power, and the braking feel is similarly seamless. That kind of refinement usually helps reduce day-to-day ownership frustration.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that you are still taking on a hybrid powertrain, so condition and maintenance history matter more than they would on a simpler gas-only car.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The cabin is already one of the nicest in the class, but higher trim levels add a digital instrument panel for a more high-tech feel. The hatchback hybrid version also turns up the sportiness dial with a sleeker profile and more distinctive taillights.
• Powertrain: The hybrid uses a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with two electric motors for a combined 200 hp and 232 lb-ft of torque. It is designed to feel more responsive than the non-hybrid setup, with smooth and quiet power delivery.
• Safety package: Standard advanced safety features include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keep assist, adaptive cruise control, a traffic sign reader, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic high beams. The top Touring trim extends automatic braking to parking lot speeds and adds parking proximity sensors and rain-sensing wipers.
• Infotainment: The base LX includes a seven-inch touchscreen, an eight-speaker audio system, and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The top Sport Touring Hybrid adds a digital instrument panel, a larger nine-inch touchscreen, a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system, wireless smartphone integration, a wireless charging pad, and Google Built-in.
• Fuel efficiency: Honda says the hybrid is expected to save 2 litres per 100 kilometres on average in combined driving versus the outgoing turbo powertrain. Honda estimates the Sport Hybrid sedan at 4.8 L/100 km combined and the Sport Touring Hybrid hatchback at 5.0 L/100 km combined.

Which 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid trim should I buy?

The 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid is offered in 2 trim levels: Sport Hybrid and Sport Touring Hybrid.

Here's the short version:

• Sport Hybrid: This is the entry point to the hybrid lineup and the better-value choice if you want the new hybrid powertrain without stretching to the top trim. It gives you the core efficiency and performance benefits of the hybrid setup while keeping the purchase more accessible.
• Sport Touring Hybrid: This is the trim to choose if you want the most complete Civic Hybrid experience. It adds the biggest infotainment and convenience upgrades, including the larger touchscreen, Bose audio, wireless smartphone integration, wireless charging, and Google Built-in.

The top Touring trim also adds automatic braking at parking lot speeds, parking proximity sensors, and rain-sensing wipers.

What is the 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid's resale value?

The current average of $32,492 CAD sits slightly below last year's $35,802 CAD.

The Civic Hybrid’s strong fuel economy and broad appeal should help support demand, especially among shoppers looking for a practical compact car with lower running costs.

Should I buy a 2025 Honda Civic Hybrid or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.24% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 model brings a new hybrid powertrain, a slight styling refresh, and new features while keeping the Civic’s practical character.

The bottom line: If you want the newest hybrid Civic with stronger power, better fuel economy, and a fresh feature set, the 2025 is the one to target. If your priority is simply the lowest possible purchase price, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2025 is the better pick if you value the updated hybrid package and broader appeal.
