Here’s some good news for the fuel economy conscious among us. The Honda Civic Hybrid is returning to Canada after a 10-year hiatus as part of a refresh on Honda’s compact car for the 2025 model year.
Update: Check out our full review of the Honda Civic Hybrid here.
As Honda joins the rest of the industry by leaning into electrification, this launch is a big deal. The automaker expects the new Civic Hybrid to make up roughly 60% of all Civic sales in Canada in relatively short order (and take on the Toyota Prius and Corolla hybrid). Could this change turn the Civic’s fortunes around and return it to top spot as the best-selling car in Canada?

2025 Honda Civic Hybrid styling
The Honda Civic Hybrid models—there will be a Civic sedan hybrid as well as a hatchback— will receive the same exterior as the rest of the Civic line-up, which is undergoing some upgrades for 2025. Each Civic will receive a redesigned and more aggressive front fascia and grille, and new darker taillights. Three new exterior paint colours are available: Solar Silver Metallic, Urban Grey Pearl, and Blue Lagoon Pearl.
Hybrid-powered trims will be distinguished by a body-coloured headlight garnish and front lower spoiler, and a new machine-finished wheel design for the new hybrid-only Sport Touring trim.

The Honda Civic Hybrid will be sold in two trim levels, which will top the nameplate’s range. On the lower Civic Hybrid Sport trim, the seats feature a new contrasting stripe design. Sport Hybrid models get heated front seats, a heated leather steering wheel and dual-zone climate control.
The Civic Sport Touring Hybrid trim comes with leather seats, a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system, and a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This system is the only one in the Civic line-up that will offer Google Built-in, a first for any Civic. This integrates Google Assistant, Google Maps, and more apps downloadable via Google Play directly into the vehicle’s infotainment. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring is also still available, as is a wireless smartphone charger.
Meanwhile, the Honda Civic Hybrid also comes with the full Honda Sensing suite of driver assistance and safety tech, which includes Blind Spot with Rear Cross Traffic Alert and adaptive cruise control and the Collision Mitigation Braking System on all cars.
