Is the 2025 Genesis GV80 a good car?

The 2025 Genesis GV80 earns an 8/10 expert rating.

The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

It’s a stylish luxury SUV that gets a redesign inside and out for 2025, adds more sophisticated materials, and gains wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also undercuts some European rivals on price, which makes it appealing if you want a premium crossover without stretching quite as far.

The trade-offs are that the GV80 is still not especially efficient, and the seats are far from comfortable. It’s best suited to you if you want a distinctive luxury SUV with strong standard equipment and everyday usefulness rather than a sporty or efficiency-first choice.

29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.

Is the 2025 Genesis GV80 reliable?

The 2025 Genesis GV80 is presented as a strong contender with a familiar powertrain carried over for the model year, which can be reassuring if you prefer a proven setup. Genesis also backs it with a 5 year/100,000-kilometre comprehensive and powertrain warranty, which helps reduce early ownership worry.

Its standard all-wheel drive and updated driver-assistance suite add to the sense that this is a well-developed luxury SUV. The performance notes also point to confident braking, a quiet cabin, and a drivetrain that feels settled in normal use.

Genesis says the GV80 gets five years of map updates, and the brand’s no-haggle pricing and at-home concierge service add convenience to ownership. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that comfort and fuel economy remain weak points, so you should make sure the specific vehicle suits your daily driving needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Genesis GV80?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The top Prestige trim adds the larger 3.5-litre twin turbocharged engine, while the base setup is more focused on value. You should pay close attention to whether the trim you’re considering includes the richer interior materials and extra equipment you want, since the base version is more limited.
• Powertrain: The GV80 comes with a 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine or a twin-turbocharged six-cylinder engine. Every trim gets standard all-wheel drive, and the system can send up to 100 percent of torque to the rear wheels.
• Safety package: Genesis Highway Drive Assist II is standard, along with lane keeping assist, forward collision avoidance, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and an attention monitor. Upper trims add remote smart parking and a 360-degree camera system, and the blind view monitor is also available.
• Infotainment: All trims get a 27-inch OLED screen with a digital gauge cluster and infotainment system. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, along with wireless charging and four USB-C ports.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates the four-cylinder engine at 12.5 L/100 km city, 9.8 highway, and 11.3 combined. The six-cylinder engine is rated at 14.4 L/100 km city, 10.6 highway, and 12.7 combined.

Which 2025 Genesis GV80 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Genesis GV80 is offered in 4 trim levels: Advanced, Advanced Technology Package, Prestige, and Advanced Technology Package.

Here's the short version:

• Advanced: This is the entry point if you want the GV80’s core luxury feel and standard all-wheel drive without paying for the upper-end extras.
• Advanced Technology Package: This is the best-value choice if you want the richer tech and equipment mix without jumping all the way to the top trim.
• Prestige: Choose this if you want the larger 3.5-litre twin-turbocharged engine and the most upscale version of the GV80.

Genesis’s standard safety suite includes Highway Drive Assist II, lane keeping assist, forward collision avoidance, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and an attention monitor.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Genesis GV80?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have some room to shop carefully rather than rush.

• Deal availability: 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 65 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.38% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $72,861 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Genesis GV80's resale value?

The current average of $74,633 CAD sits slightly below last year's $88,198 CAD.

That price movement suggests the GV80 has become more accessible for used buyers, but it also means a future seller may face a softer market than last year. If you buy now, you may benefit from the lower entry point, but you should still expect depreciation to remain a factor. For resale, the strongest protection will likely come from choosing a well-equipped trim with desirable features and keeping mileage and condition in check.

Is the 2025 Genesis GV80 safe?

The 2025 Genesis GV80 has not been rated by IIHS or NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Genesis Highway Drive Assist II is standard, and it includes an attention monitor that watches the driver’s eyes, plus lane keeping assist, forward collision avoidance, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. Upper trims add remote smart parking and a 360-degree camera system, and the blind view monitor is available as well.

One caveat is that the driver-assist settings can take a few taps to adjust, which may be annoying if you want to disable lane keeping assist quickly. The attention monitor can also be turned off in the infotainment system if needed.

Should I buy a 2025 Genesis GV80 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 29.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.38% compared with last year.
• It adds a more sophisticated redesign, wireless smartphone integration, and stronger tech appeal.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $56,433 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $74,633 CAD average.
• It’s the more elegant and traditional choice.

The bottom line: If you want the newer look, updated tech, and a more modern feel, the 2025 is the better pick. If you’re more price-sensitive and can live without the refresh, the 2024 remains a compelling alternative that delivers much of the same core luxury experience for less.
