How much does the 2023 Genesis GV80 cost?

Prices have softened 17.29% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 55 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Genesis GV80 a good car?

Yes — it earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.

Owners repeatedly praise the luxurious interior, smooth ride, and strong value versus German rivals. They also highlight the advanced safety features and the sense that you get a lot of equipment for the money.

The main trade-offs are the learning curve for the controls and tech, plus the fact that performance is fairly pedestrian. The GV80 is best suited to you if you want a midsize luxury SUV that prioritises comfort, style, and features over outright speed or maximum practicality.

With 27.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful value in the market.

Is the 2023 Genesis GV80 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owners also describe it as dependable and trouble-free, with confidence in its long-term ownership experience. The expert evaluation reinforces that impression by noting the GV80’s strong value, smooth operation, and generally few true faults.

Genesis also includes pick-up and delivery for test drives, purchase, and scheduled maintenance appointments for the first five years of ownership, which helps reduce early ownership hassle.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic dependability and more about living with the tech learning curve and higher fuel use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Genesis GV80?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The GV80 is offered in Advanced and Prestige packages. The Prestige tester adds 22-inch alloy wheels, while the standard setup still brings a spacious, luxurious cabin with a 14.5-inch infotainment screen and a head-up display.
• Powertrain: You get a choice of a turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder or a twin-turbo 3.5-litre V6, both paired with an 8-speed automatic and standard AWD. The V6 is the stronger choice if you want more power, while the four-cylinder is the more value-focused option.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning, lane-keeping assist and follow, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, Blind-Spot View Monitor, and Highway Drive Assist. Those features are a major part of the GV80’s appeal.
• Infotainment: All trims get a 14.5-inch touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, but neither is wireless. You also get wireless charging, four USB ports, a 12-volt outlet, and a 110-volt outlet.
• Fuel efficiency: The four-cylinder is rated at 11.3 L/100 km in city driving, 9.5 L/100 km on the highway, and 10.5 L/100 km combined. The V6 is rated at 12.9 L/100 km city, 10.4 L/100 km highway, and 11.8 L/100 km combined.

Which 2023 Genesis GV80 trim should I buy?

The 2023 Genesis GV80 is offered in 2 trim levels: Advanced and Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• Advanced: This is the better-value choice if you want the GV80’s core strengths without stretching to the top trim. You still get the standard luxury feel, the 14.5-inch touchscreen, the head-up display, and the full suite of standard driver aids.
• Prestige: This is the one to choose if you want the most upscale presentation, including the 22-inch alloy wheels mentioned in the expert review. It suits you best if you care most about appearance and a more fully loaded feel.

The safety package is a strong selling point across the range, with standard Blind-Spot View Monitor and Highway Drive Assist.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Genesis GV80?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 27.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 55 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.29% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $45,336 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Genesis GV80's resale value?

The current average of $45,336 CAD sits slightly below last year's $54,813 CAD.

That decline suggests the GV80 has become more attractive to used buyers, which can help support demand in the near term. For a future seller, it also means you may be entering the market at a lower price point than owners saw a year ago.

Because the model still carries a strong value reputation and broad feature set, it should remain appealing to shoppers who want luxury without paying German-brand pricing. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Genesis GV80 safe?

The 2023 Genesis GV80 earns five-star ratings from NHTSA, including five-star ratings for side crash and four-star ratings in rollover and frontal crash. The GV80 received a rating of Good for crashworthiness by IIHS and Superior in front crash prevention involving cars and pedestrians.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes forward collision warning, lane-keeping assist and follow, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control, Blind-Spot View Monitor, and Highway Drive Assist. That suite gives you a lot of driver assistance right from the start.

The main caveat is that Highway Drive Assist can struggle when visibility is poor, especially when the sun is directly ahead. The headlights and LATCH system also received Acceptable ratings from IIHS.

Should I buy a 2023 Genesis GV80 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 27.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.29% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 stands out for its strong value, standard AWD, and broad safety equipment.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $54,058 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $45,336 CAD average.
• It adds a more elegant, traditional feel with updated styling and a more high-tech interior.

The 2023 is the better pick if you want the strongest value and are comfortable with its tech learning curve. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2023 is the smarter buy; if you want the newer feel and can spend more, the 2024 is worth a look.
