Is the 2025 Genesis GV80 a good car?

The 2025 Genesis GV80 earns an 8/10 expert rating.

The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

It’s a stylish luxury SUV that gets a more sophisticated redesign for 2025, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also undercuts some European rivals on price, which makes it appealing if you want a premium feel without stretching as far as some competitors.

The trade-offs are clear: poor fuel economy and uncomfortable seats are the main drawbacks, so you should pay close attention to comfort on a test drive. Even so, the GV80’s feature set and upscale presentation make it a strong fit if you want a distinctive luxury crossover for everyday use.

With 27.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s a decent amount of value-oriented inventory to consider.

Is the 2025 Genesis GV80 reliable?

The 2025 Genesis GV80 is presented as a strong contender in the luxury crossover segment, and Genesis backs it with a 5 year/100,000-kilometre comprehensive and powertrain warranty.

Its standard all-wheel drive, quiet cabin, and confident braking support the impression of a well-rounded SUV for daily use. The expert review also notes that the hands-on driver-assist system works well in heavy traffic, which adds to its everyday dependability.

Genesis also includes no-haggle pricing, at-home concierge service for test drives and service appointments, and five years of map updates, which can make ownership simpler. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the seats and fuel economy may remain persistent compromises rather than one-off issues.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Genesis GV80?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The 2.5-litre engine is available in Advanced and Advanced Technology Package trims, while the larger engine is offered in Advanced Technology Package and Prestige trims. The base setup gives you the core luxury experience, but higher trims add more equipment and convenience features.
• Powertrain: You can choose between a 2.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with 300 horsepower and a twin-turbocharged six-cylinder with 375 horsepower. Every trim gets standard all-wheel drive, and the larger engine is the better fit if you want stronger acceleration.
• Safety package: Every GV80 gets lane keeping assist, forward collision avoidance, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert and Highway Drive Assist II. Upper trims add remote smart parking and a 360-degree camera system, and the blind view monitor is also available.
• Infotainment: All trims get a 27-inch OLED screen with a digital gauge cluster and infotainment system. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, along with wireless charging and four USB-C ports.
• Fuel efficiency: Natural Resources Canada rates the four-cylinder model at 12.5 L/100 km in the city, 9.8 L/100 km on the highway and 11.3 L/100 km combined. The six-cylinder model is rated at 14.4 L/100 km city, 10.6 L/100 km highway and 12.7 L/100 km combined.

Which 2025 Genesis GV80 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Genesis GV80 is offered in 4 trim levels: Advanced, Advanced Technology Package, Prestige, and Advanced Technology Package.

Here's the short version:

• Advanced: This is the entry point if you want the GV80’s core luxury feel and standard all-wheel drive without stretching to the pricier trims.
• Advanced Technology Package: This is the best-value choice if you want more equipment and access to the stronger engine without jumping all the way to the top trim.
• Prestige: Choose this if you want the most upscale version of the GV80 and are willing to pay for the highest-end presentation.

Genesis’s Highway Drive Assist II is standard, and upper trims add remote smart parking and a 360-degree camera system.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Genesis GV80?

The current market looks moderate, so you can shop selectively without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 27.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 69 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.00% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $72,862 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Genesis GV80's resale value?

The current average of $73,691 CAD sits slightly below last year's $87,723 CAD.

That drop suggests the GV80 has become more attractive for used buyers, but it also means a future seller may face more price pressure than owners did a year ago. If you buy now, you’re entering at a softer point in the market, which can help with value retention if prices stabilise. For resale, the strongest outcome will likely come from a well-equipped trim with desirable features and clean history.

Is the 2025 Genesis GV80 safe?

The 2025 Genesis GV80 has not yet been rated by IIHS or NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Genesis’s Highway Drive Assist II is standard, and it includes an attention monitor that watches the driver’s eyes. Every GV80 also gets lane keeping assist, forward collision avoidance, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, while upper trims add remote smart parking and a 360-degree camera system.

One caveat is that some driver-assist settings take a few taps to adjust, which can be inconvenient if you want to quickly disable lane keeping assist. The blind view monitor is a useful available feature, but it is not standard across the range.

Should I buy a 2025 Genesis GV80 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 27.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.00% compared with last year.
• It adds a more sophisticated redesign, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a stronger technology story.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $55,980 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $73,691 CAD average.
• It is a stylish, safe, and mostly rewarding midsize luxury SUV.

The bottom line: If you want the newer styling and upgraded tech, the 2025 is the better pick. If your priority is saving money and you can live without the latest refresh, the 2024 remains the value play.
