There are 214 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Ford Maverick a good car?

Generally — the 2025 Ford Maverick earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Form and function, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its practicality, comfortable seating, good fuel economy, and spacious interior, especially with the hybrid powertrain. The updated styling and modern features also come through strongly in owner feedback.

On the trade-off side, the expert review points to a higher price than before and excessive touchscreen controls, while the overview notes that advanced safety features are not standard. For you, that means the Maverick makes the most sense if you want a compact truck that feels useful and distinctive rather than the cheapest possible way into the segment.

With 35.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Ford Maverick reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with strong praise for the Maverick’s practicality and fuel economy. The hybrid setup is especially appealing if you want something you can count on for everyday use.

The expert review also supports that impression by describing the Maverick as pleasant to drive and practical, with the hybrid powertrain remaining a core strength. Ford’s warranty coverage includes a three-year/60,000-kilometre bumper-to-bumper warranty, a five-year/100,000-kilometre powertrain warranty, and an eight-year/160,000-kilometre warranty for hybrid components.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the truck’s equipment and pricing still match your expectations over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Ford Maverick?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base XL keeps things simple, while XLT and Lariat add more visual polish and equipment. The Maverick Tremor brings dedicated off-road hardware, and the Lobo adds a lowered, street-truck look with unique styling details. If you want the best value, the XLT is the trim to focus on because it adds more everyday appeal without jumping as far in price as the upper trims.
• Powertrain: The standard hybrid uses a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with a single electric motor and CVT, while the optional 2.0-litre EcoBoost turbo-four brings more power. The hybrid is the efficiency choice, and the Lobo uses a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox with a performance-focused setup.
• Safety package: Ford’s driver-assistance suite includes forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control with lane-centring and stop-and-go, and automatic high beams as standard on the base XL. Blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and a 360-degree camera are optional, so check carefully if you want a more complete safety setup.
• Infotainment: You get a 13.2-inch touchscreen, Sync 4, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an 8-inch digital instrument cluster. The main annoyance is that temperature and seat-heater controls still rely on the touchscreen.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid is rated at 6.2 L/100 km combined, 5.6 city, and 6.7 highway. The 2.0-litre turbo-four is rated at 9.4 L/100 km combined, 10.6 city, and 7.8 highway, while the Lobo is rated at 9.7 L/100 km combined.

Which 2025 Ford Maverick trim should I buy?

The 2025 Ford Maverick is offered in 5 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, Tremor, and Lobo.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the simplest way into the Maverick, and it still gets the updated tech and the core hybrid identity that define the truck. Choose it if you want the lowest entry point and can live without the extra convenience and appearance upgrades.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds a more polished feel without pushing you into the pricier upper end of the lineup. It should suit you best if you want the Maverick’s practicality with a better balance of equipment and cost.
• Lariat: This trim is the one to consider if you want the most upscale everyday Maverick experience, along with the available towing tech mentioned in the review. It makes sense if you plan to use the truck more often and want more convenience features.
• Tremor: Pick this if you want the Maverick’s dedicated off-road character, including the suspension tuning, all-terrain tyres, skid plates, and AWD hardware described in the review. It is the right fit if rougher roads matter more than maximum efficiency.
• Lobo: This is the one for you if you want the Maverick’s fun-to-drive side, with the lowered suspension, unique transmission, and handling-focused setup. It stands out as the most distinctive choice for buyers who care about street performance flavour.

The safety package is not fully standard across the lineup, so check the equipment list carefully before you buy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Ford Maverick?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 214 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.02% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $41,360 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Ford Maverick's resale value?

The current average of $41,780 CAD sits slightly below last year's $45,423 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Maverick has become easier to buy used, but it also means future sellers may face more competition when they go to list theirs. If prices stay near this level, resale values should remain more stable than strong, but not especially hot.

The Maverick’s broad appeal helps support demand, especially because it combines truck usefulness with hybrid efficiency and a distinctive size. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Ford Maverick safe?

The 2025 Maverick earns a four-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in rollover crash testing and five-star ratings in frontal and side crash tests.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford’s standard driver-assistance suite includes forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control with lane-centring and stop-and-go, and automatic high beams on the base XL. Blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and a 360-degree camera are optional, so you should verify the exact equipment on any used example.

The expert review also flags a shortcoming: advanced safety features are not standard, and IIHS results include a Marginal rating in the updated moderate overlap front test.

Should I buy a 2025 Ford Maverick or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.02% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 brings styling and tech updates, plus the Maverick Lobo performance variant and an all-wheel drive hybrid.

The bottom line: If you want the most up-to-date Maverick with the strongest mix of tech, efficiency, and personality, the 2025 is the one to target. If your priority is stretching your budget as far as possible, a nearby model year may still make sense, but you will give up some of the refresh and the broader trim mix.

2025 Ford Maverick:

The Maverick stands out if you want a standard hybrid powertrain and a more truck-relevant set of options, while the Santa Cruz leans harder into technology and warranty coverage.
