Is the 2025 Ford Maverick a good car?

Generally — the 2025 Ford Maverick earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, Form and function, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its practicality, comfortable seating, spacious interior, and good fuel economy, especially with the hybrid powertrain. The Maverick also stands out for its modern features and useful everyday packaging. On the other hand, the expert review points to a higher price than before and touchscreen-heavy controls that may not suit everyone.

For buyers who want a compact pickup that feels easier to live with than a larger truck, the Maverick’s mix of utility and efficiency remains compelling. There are 35.1% good or great deals in the market, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Ford Maverick reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The expert review also describes the basic hybrid as a great daily driver, which reinforces the sense that this truck is built to be used regularly and counted on.

Ford’s hybrid powertrain components are covered by an eight-year/160,000-kilometre warranty, which adds some reassurance for long-term ownership. For used buyers, the main risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the truck’s higher pricing and feature mix still fit your expectations.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Ford Maverick?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base XL is the most basic version, with 17-inch steel wheels and a simpler grille, while XLT and Lariat add more upscale wheel and exterior treatments. The Lariat also gets a gloss-black grille, and the Lobo adds a lowered stance, painted rear bumper, side skirts, 19-inch wheels, and bright interior accents. The Tremor is the off-road model with dedicated suspension tuning, all-terrain tyres, skid plates, and a twin-clutch rear drive unit.
• Powertrain: You can shop a standard hybrid with front-wheel drive or AWD, or the 2.0-litre EcoBoost turbo-four with AWD only. The hybrid makes 191 horsepower and 155 pound-feet of torque, while the turbo engine makes 238 hp and 275 lb-ft. The Lobo uses a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, while most turbo models use an eight-speed automatic.
• Safety package: Forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control with lane-centring and stop-and-go, and automatic high beams are standard on the base XL. Blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and a 360-degree camera system are optional, so you should check carefully for the equipment you want.
• Infotainment: The Maverick uses a 13.2-inch touchscreen with Sync 4, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and an 8-inch digital instrument cluster. Ford still routes temperature and seat-heater controls through the touchscreen, so make sure you’re comfortable with that setup before you buy.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid is rated at 6.2 L/100 km combined, while the 2.0-litre turbo-four is rated at 9.4 L/100 km combined. The Lobo returns 9.7 L/100 km combined, and the Tremor is rated at 10.1 L/100 km combined.

Which 2025 Ford Maverick trim should I buy?

The 2025 Ford Maverick is offered in 5 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, Tremor, and Lobo.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the value-focused starting point, and it gives you the Maverick’s core appeal without the extra cost of the higher trims. It’s the trim to consider if you want the most affordable way into the lineup and are comfortable adding optional safety features if needed.
• XLT: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds a more polished look and feel without jumping all the way to the top of the range. If you want a balanced mix of equipment and price, this is the trim to focus on first.
• Lariat: Choose this if you want the most upscale mainstream Maverick experience, along with the added towing tech mentioned in the review. It suits you best if you want more convenience and a richer feature set.
• Tremor: This is the dedicated off-road model, with suspension tuning, all-terrain tyres, skid plates, and a twin-clutch rear drive unit. Buy it if you want the Maverick’s rugged character and plan to use those hardware upgrades.
• Lobo: This is the enthusiast pick, with lowered suspension, unique styling, upgraded brakes, and a track-focused drive mode. It’s the one to choose if you want the most playful, fun-to-drive Maverick.

Safety equipment is not fully standard across the lineup, so check each truck carefully for the driver-assistance features you want.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Ford Maverick?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 194 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.52% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $41,208 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Ford Maverick's resale value?

The current average of $41,208 CAD sits slightly below last year's $44,557 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Maverick has become a little easier for used buyers to access, which can make it harder for sellers to command top dollar right now. If you’re planning to sell later, the current trend implies you may need to price competitively to stand out.

Even so, the Maverick’s practical packaging and strong owner satisfaction should help support demand over time. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Ford Maverick safe?

The 2025 Ford Maverick earns a four-star overall safety rating from NHTSA, with four-star ratings in rollover crash testing and five-star ratings in frontal and side crash tests.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford makes forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control with lane-centring and stop-and-go, and automatic high beams standard on the base XL. Blind-spot monitoring, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and a 360-degree camera system are optional, so safety equipment varies by trim and option package.

The expert review also notes that IIHS results are mixed, with a Good rating in the updated side crash test but only Marginal in the updated moderate overlap front test, plus an Acceptable headlight rating. That means you should pay close attention to the exact safety equipment on any used example you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2025 Ford Maverick or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 35.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.52% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 model adds styling and tech updates, plus a Maverick Lobo performance variant and an all-wheel drive hybrid.

The bottom line: If you want the most up-to-date Maverick with the broadest mix of efficiency, tech, and personality, the 2025 is the one to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may still make sense, but the 2025’s updated equipment and softened pricing make it the stronger all-around shopping target right now.
