Is the 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty a good car?

The 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty earns a 7.33/10 expert rating, and Ford positions it as a heavy-duty truck built around serious capability with a strong mix of luxury, comfort, and technology. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

That makes it especially appealing if you need a truck that can work hard without feeling stripped down, and the overview also points to broad configuration choice that should help you match the truck to your budget and needs. The trade-offs are that the price can climb quickly once options are added, and many safety features are not standard.

With 38.2% of listings priced as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty reliable?

The 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty is presented as a rock-solid heavy-duty truck, and the expert summary emphasises that it can haul impressive loads while still delivering luxury, comfort, and technology. The performance notes also suggest it is built for demanding use, with strong towing hardware and a chassis that is meant to handle serious work.

Ford’s towing-focused equipment and heavy-duty construction point to a truck that is engineered for hard use, and the cost-effectiveness notes reinforce that it is aimed at buyers who need extraordinary capability rather than light-duty convenience. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a truck this capable can be expensive to keep if you need higher trims or option-heavy configurations.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim starts with analog gauges and an 8-inch touchscreen, while higher trims add more luxury and technology. The Platinum trim brings much nicer materials, including quilted leather and a more upscale cabin, but it also sits far above the work-truck end of the range.
• Powertrain: You get four powertrain options, starting with a 6.8-litre V8 gas engine, then a 7.3-litre gasoline V8, plus two diesel options, including a high-output Power Stroke 6.7-litre turbodiesel V8. The diesel versions are the ones to focus on if towing is your priority.
• Safety package: Forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking is standard on the XLT trim. The Lariat adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking proximity sensors with automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system. Adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and a head-up display are standard on the King Ranch trim and above.
• Infotainment: Higher trims can have a 12-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 12-inch digital instrument panel. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard and wireless throughout the lineup, while the wireless charging pad is reserved for higher trim levels.
• Fuel efficiency: Heavy-duty trucks are exempt from reporting fuel economy estimates, but the test vehicle averaged around 15.6 L/100 km in mixed driving.

Which 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty trim should I buy?

The 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty is offered in 5 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the work-focused starting point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest entry price and can live with the most basic cabin and equipment.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for many buyers because it adds forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking while staying well below the luxury end of the range.
• Lariat: This is the smart step-up if you want a better mix of convenience and safety, since it adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking sensors with automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system.
• King Ranch: This is the right choice if you want more comfort and driver assistance, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and a head-up display.
• Platinum: This is the luxury pick, with the most upscale materials and the richest feature set, but it is also the most expensive path.

Safety-package features are not spread evenly across the lineup, so if you want the most useful driver-assistance equipment without jumping straight to the top, the Lariat is the trim to watch.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and focus on value rather than rushing.

• Deal availability: 38.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 110 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.47% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $78,059 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty's resale value?

The current average of $81,502 CAD sits slightly below last year's $98,755 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more truck for the money today. For a future seller, it also means you should expect resale value to depend heavily on trim, equipment, and how well the truck has been kept. Higher-spec versions may still command strong interest, but the broader trend points to softer pricing than a year ago.

Is the 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty safe?

The 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty does not have crash-test results from either IIHS or NHTSA, and Ford notes that many safety features are limited to the option list and higher trim levels. It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard trailer sway control helps keep a trailer stable on the highway and in crosswinds. Beyond that, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking is standard on the XLT trim, the Lariat adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking proximity sensors with automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system, and adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and a head-up display are standard on the King Ranch trim and above.

Should I buy a 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 38.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.47% compared with last year.
• The 2025 stands out for its unmatched towing capacity and broad mix of luxury, comfort, and technology.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest towing story and a truck that can be configured from work-ready to genuinely luxurious, the 2025 is the one to target. If you are more price-sensitive, the softer market and lower-priced listings make it worth shopping carefully for a well-equipped example rather than stretching to the most expensive trims.
