Is the 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty a good car?

The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

It is especially appealing if you need serious hauling ability and want a truck that can handle demanding work without giving up luxury, comfort, and technology. The trade-offs are clear: price climbs quickly with options and many safety features are not standard.

With 30% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty reliable?

The 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty is built around heavy-duty capability first, and its underlying construction is described as appropriately rock-solid. The truck’s powertrain lineup is broad, and the available diesel options are presented as serious tools for towing and hauling.

Its performance content also points to a truck that is engineered for hard use, with a 10-speed automatic transmission across the range and towing hardware that supports demanding work. The cost-effectiveness content notes that heavy-duty trucks are exempt from fuel-economy reporting, and the F-250’s real-world consumption is not especially frugal.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a truck this capable can become expensive to keep if you need higher trims, diesel hardware, or option-heavy configurations.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim starts with analog gauges and an 8-inch touchscreen, while higher trims add a 12-inch infotainment screen and a 12-inch digital instrument panel. The Platinum trim brings much richer materials, including quilted leather and more upscale interior trim.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a 6.8-litre V8 gas engine, a 7.3-litre gasoline V8, and two diesel options, including a high-output Power Stroke 6.7-litre turbodiesel V8 with 1,200 lb-ft of torque. All versions use a 10-speed automatic transmission, and all but the base XL trim come standard with 4WD.
• Safety package: Forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking is standard on the XLT trim. The Lariat adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking proximity sensors with automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system. Adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and a head-up display are standard on the King Ranch trim and above.
• Infotainment: Higher trims get a 12-inch touchscreen and a 12-inch digital instrument panel. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard and wireless throughout the lineup, and the wireless charging pad is included only on higher trim levels.
• Fuel efficiency: Heavy-duty trucks are exempt from fuel-economy estimates, but the F-250 averaged around 15.6 L/100 km in mixed driving.

Which 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty trim should I buy?

The 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty is offered in 4 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the work-focused starting point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest entry price and do not need many comfort or driver-assistance extras.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, making it a smarter everyday choice without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• Lariat: This is the trim to target if you want a more complete safety and convenience package, including blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking proximity sensors with automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system.
• Platinum: This is the luxury-leaning choice, with the richest cabin materials, a 12-inch touchscreen, a 12-inch digital instrument panel, and a more upscale overall feel.

Safety features remain limited on lower trims, so if you want the strongest standard driver-assistance coverage, you should look above the base model.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 30% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 120 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 19.14% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $78,064 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty's resale value?

The current average of $79,707 CAD sits slightly below last year's $98,568 CAD.

That price drop suggests the market has moved in your favour if you are buying now, but it also means a future seller may face softer resale conditions than owners saw a year ago. If you plan to own the truck for a while, the current pricing can help offset some of the cost of stepping into a heavy-duty pickup. If you expect to resell soon, the recent decline is a reminder that option-heavy trucks may not hold their peak value as well as they did last year.

Is the 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty safe?

The 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty has no crash-test results available from either NHTSA or IIHS.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford’s named driver-assistance suite is not presented as a single branded package here, but the truck does offer trailer sway control, forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking on the XLT, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert on the Lariat, rear parking proximity sensors with automatic braking, a surround-view camera system, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and a head-up display on the King Ranch and above.

The main caveat is that many safety features are not standard, and the truck’s elevated ride height makes it more prone to rollovers.

Should I buy a 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 30% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 19.14% compared with last year.
• The 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty stands out as a heavy-duty truck built around capability first, with an unbeaten 10,430-kilogram towing capacity and a deep roster of configurations to choose from.

The bottom line: If you want maximum towing ability and a broad mix of trims and equipment, the 2025 is the one to focus on. If you are more price-sensitive, the softer used-market pricing makes it worth shopping carefully for a lower-priced example rather than paying up for a heavily optioned truck.
