Is the 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty a good car?

The 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty earns an expert rating of 7.3/10.

The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

It is built around capability first, with an unbeaten 10,430-kilogram towing capacity and a deep roster of configurations that can suit both work-focused buyers and shoppers who want more luxury, comfort, and technology. The trade-offs are that the price climbs quickly with options and many safety features are not standard.

Good and great deals account for 26.8% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty reliable?

The 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty is presented as a rock-solid body-on-frame heavy-duty truck, and its construction is described as appropriately sturdy for the job it is meant to do.

Its powertrain lineup is broad, with multiple gas and diesel options, and the high-output diesel delivers strong towing performance with ease. The truck’s heavy-duty hardware and work-focused design support long-term durability, but the same size, complexity, and option-heavy nature can make ownership more demanding if you buy a highly equipped example.

If you plan to keep one used, the biggest long-term risk is choosing a truck that has been worked hard, heavily optioned, or modified without careful maintenance history.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim is much more utilitarian, with analog gauges and an 8-inch touchscreen, while higher trims add much richer materials, a 12-inch infotainment screen, and a 12-inch digital instrument panel. The Platinum trim in particular brings a more luxurious cabin, but it also pushes the price up quickly.
• Powertrain: You can choose from four powertrain options, starting with a 6.8-litre V8, moving to a 7.3-litre V8, and then two diesel options, including a high-output Power Stroke 6.7-litre turbodiesel with 500 hp and 1,200 lb-ft of torque. The diesel versions are the strongest choice if towing is your priority.
• Safety package: Forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking is standard on the XLT trim. The Lariat adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking proximity sensors with automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system. Adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and a head-up display are standard on the King Ranch trim and above.
• Infotainment: Lower trims start with an 8-inch touchscreen, while higher trims get a 12-inch infotainment touchscreen and a 12-inch digital instrument panel. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard and wireless throughout the lineup, but the wireless charging pad is reserved for higher trims.
• Fuel efficiency: Heavy-duty trucks are exempt from fuel economy estimates, but the truck averaged around 15.6 L/100 km in mixed driving.

Which 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty trim should I buy?

The 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty is offered in 5 trim levels: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the work-first choice, and it makes the most sense if you want the lowest entry point and do not need much in the way of standard comfort or tech.
• XLT: This is the best-value trim for many buyers because it adds forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking while staying well below the luxury-focused upper trims.
• Lariat: This is the smart step-up if you want a better mix of convenience and safety, since it adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking proximity sensors with automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system.
• King Ranch: This is the right pick if you want more luxury and standard driver assistance, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and a head-up display.
• Platinum: This is the most upscale choice, with the richest cabin presentation and the most premium feel, but it is also the most expensive path.

Safety features are limited on lower trims, so if you want the broader driver-assistance suite, you should focus on Lariat or higher.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can afford to compare listings carefully rather than rushing into the first truck you see.

• Deal availability: 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 123 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.88% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $78,091 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty's resale value?

The current average of $79,624 CAD sits slightly below last year's $98,154 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more truck for the money today. If you sell later, your resale outcome will depend heavily on trim, mileage, and how well the truck has been maintained, especially because higher-spec heavy-duty trucks can lose value quickly when optioned up. For a future seller, the safest path is usually a well-kept example with desirable equipment and no signs of hard commercial use.

Is the 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty safe?

The 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty has no crash-test results from either IIHS or NHTSA.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard trailer sway control helps keep a trailer stable, and the truck’s safety equipment expands meaningfully as you move up the trim ladder. Forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking is standard on the XLT, the Lariat adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, rear parking proximity sensors with automatic braking, and a surround-view camera system, and the King Ranch and above add adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and a head-up display.

The main caveat is that many safety features are not standard, so you need to shop carefully if driver assistance matters to you.

Should I buy a 2025 Ford F-250 Super Duty or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 26.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.88% compared with last year.
• The 2025 stands out for its unmatched towing capacity and broad configuration range.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest towing story and a truck that still offers plenty of comfort and technology, the 2025 is the one to target. If your priority is simply getting the lowest possible price, a nearby model year may be worth a look, but the 2025’s softened pricing makes it a sensible place to shop first.
