Is the 2025 Ford F-150 a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Ford F-150 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.3/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

The F-150’s appeal comes from its huge range of cab styles, bed lengths, trim levels and powertrains, so you can tailor it to work, family duty or off-road use. It also brings impressive technology and capability both on and off the road, while the Platinum Plus package adds a more upscale option for buyers who want extra luxury.

The trade-offs are clear: fuel economy is poor and manoeuvrability is poor, and the truck’s value proposition is only average.

With 35.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a competitive price if you shop carefully.

Is the 2025 Ford F-150 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2025 F-150 is built around breadth and capability, with six powertrains, multiple cab and bed combinations, and a lineup that can be configured for many different jobs. The expert assessment also points to strong substance across the range, which supports confidence in day-to-day ownership.

Its performance notes highlight a robust V8 option, strong towing and payload capability, and a truck that feels composed on the highway and capable off-road. Ford also adds a slew of new standard and optional driver-assistance systems for 2025, which helps the truck feel current.

The first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a truck this large and complex can be costly to run if you choose a higher-spec or heavily equipped example.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Ford F-150?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Tremor builds on the XLT trim level with off-roading equipment and exclusive design details, while the base truck’s feature set is less specialised.
• Powertrain: You can choose a twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre EcoBoost V6 or a 5.0-litre V8 in the Tremor; the V6 is more capable and more fuel efficient, while the V8 sounds better.
• Safety package: BlueCruise is standard starting with the Tremor trim, and the 2025 model adds oncoming-traffic detection for automatic emergency braking, evasive steering assist, intersection braking assist, predictive speed assist, Road Edge Detection and Active Blind-Spot Assist.
• Infotainment: The truck uses a 12-inch productivity screen and a 12-inch Sync 4 infotainment touchscreen, with wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: The Tremor EcoBoost is rated at 12.9 litres per 100 kilometres combined, while the V8 is rated at 13.7 L/100 km.

Which 2025 Ford F-150 trim should I buy?

The 2025 Ford F-150 is offered in 8 trim levels: XL, STX, XLT, Tremor, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum and Raptor.

Here's the short version:

• XL: This is the entry point if you want the broad F-150 experience at the lowest price, but you should expect the fewest comfort and convenience features.
• STX: A sensible step up if you want a little more equipment without moving too far up the price ladder.
• XLT: This is the trim that underpins the Tremor and is the best-value starting point for buyers who want a strong mix of capability, features and flexibility.
• Tremor: This is the one to buy if you want off-road hardware, standard 4WD, Trail Control, and a more adventurous personality without jumping to the most expensive performance models.
• Lariat: A good choice if you want a more upscale daily driver with more comfort and technology.
• King Ranch: Best for buyers who want a more premium, distinctive truck with a richer feel.
• Platinum: A strong pick if you want luxury-leaning features and a more polished presentation.
• Raptor: Choose this if you want the most aggressive off-road-focused version in the lineup.

BlueCruise is standard starting with the Tremor trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Ford F-150?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.

• Deal availability: 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,987 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 22.80% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $60,218 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Ford F-150's resale value?

The current average of $60,218 CAD sits slightly below last year's $78,007 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favourable point, but it also means future resale values may depend heavily on how well you choose and maintain the truck. Higher-spec examples with desirable equipment may hold attention better than sparse or less versatile builds.

Because the F-150 has broad appeal and a huge range of configurations, well-equipped versions should remain easier to move than niche or poorly optioned trucks.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Ford F-150 safe?

The F-150 earns high marks in crash tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). It gets a five-star overall rating and a four-star rollover resistance rating. The F-150 also scores well in crash tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Ford’s safety suite for 2025 adds oncoming-traffic detection for automatic emergency braking, evasive steering assist, intersection braking assist, predictive speed assist, Road Edge Detection and Active Blind-Spot Assist. BlueCruise is standard starting with the Tremor trim, and it uses Driver State Detection as part of the hands-free system.

A key caveat is that BlueCruise is impressive but not infallible, so you still need to stay ready to take over when conditions get tricky.

Should I buy a 2025 Ford F-150 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 22.80% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2025 adds new standard and optional driver-assistance systems, plus a Platinum Plus package for extra luxury.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $54,900 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $60,218 CAD average.
• It adds thoughtful updates inside and out, including a more practical tailgate and updated BlueCruise.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It reshuffles equipment across the lineup and remains the most versatile version of the truck.

The bottom line: If you want the most current safety and convenience updates, the 2025 is the better target. If your priority is saving money, the 2024 is the smarter value play.
