Used 2025 Ford Explorer for Sale nearNepean, ON

How much does the 2025 Ford Explorer cost?

Prices have softened 12.08% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 380 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2025 Ford Explorer a good car?

Yes — the 2025 Ford Explorer earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its powerful engine, stylish interior, and strong feature content for the price. The overview also points to a more polished, better-equipped SUV that is comfortable, fun to drive, and easy to use when it comes to technology.

The main trade-offs are the lack of a hybrid or plug-in hybrid option and the cramped third row. That makes it a better fit if you want a well-rounded three-row SUV for everyday use rather than maximum passenger space or electrified efficiency.

With 31.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful value in the market if you shop carefully.

Is the 2025 Ford Explorer reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable-feeling SUV with strong appeal for buyers who want something they can count on over time. The expert review also describes the Explorer as a more appealing and more polished choice for 2025, with improved quality and a simplified lineup that should make ownership easier to live with.

Ford also positions the Explorer as a family-friendly SUV with modern technology and broad everyday usability, which supports confidence in day-to-day dependability. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the third row remains a weak point if you regularly need full-size passenger space.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Ford Explorer?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup is simplified for 2025, with Active, ST-Line, Platinum, and ST. The base trim gets the improved interior and core family SUV formula, while ST-Line adds a sportier look, Platinum brings a more luxurious feel, and ST is the performance-focused choice.
• Powertrain: Most trims use a turbocharged 2.3-litre four-cylinder with 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque. The ST gets a twin-turbo 3.0-litre V6 with 400 horsepower and 415 pound-feet of torque, and Platinum can be optioned with that V6 as well.
• Safety package: Every version gets Ford CoPilot 360 Assist+, which includes adaptive cruise control with lane-centring assist plus common driver-assistance and collision-avoidance systems. ST-Line and higher add Ford CoPilot 360 2.0 with a surround-view camera system, and BlueCruise is standard starting with ST-Line.
• Infotainment: You get a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel and a 13.2-inch touchscreen with Ford Digital Experience. Wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, Google Built-in, Amazon Alexa Built-in, and app support are included.
• Fuel efficiency: The base 2.3-litre engine is rated at 11.9 L/100 km city, 8.7 highway, and 10.4 combined. The V6 in Platinum is rated at 13.0 L/100 km city, 9.3 highway, and 11.3 combined, while the ST returns 13.3 city, 9.6 highway, and 11.6 combined.

Which 2025 Ford Explorer trim should I buy?

The 2025 Ford Explorer is offered in 4 trim levels: Active, ST-Line, Platinum, and ST.

Here's the short version:

• Active: This is the value-oriented starting point, and it gives you the refreshed interior, the new infotainment system, and the core safety tech without pushing the price higher than necessary.
• ST-Line: This is the best-value trim if you want the most appealing mix of style and equipment. It adds the sportier appearance, BlueCruise, and the surround-view camera system, making it the sweet spot for many shoppers.
• Platinum: Choose this if you want the more upscale feel and the available twin-turbo V6. It suits you best if comfort and premium touches matter more than outright sportiness.
• ST: This is the performance trim, with the twin-turbo V6 and sport-tuned hardware. It makes sense if you want the quickest, most driver-focused Explorer.

Starting with ST-Line, all Explorers include BlueCruise, and ST-Line and higher also get Ford CoPilot 360 2.0.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Ford Explorer?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to compare listings and wait for the right one.

• Deal availability: 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 380 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.08% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $51,657 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Ford Explorer's resale value?

The current average of $51,657 CAD sits slightly below last year's $58,756 CAD.

That price decline suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it can also mean sellers need to be realistic when setting an asking price. If you own one and plan to sell later, the current softness may limit short-term upside unless your vehicle is especially well equipped or priced competitively.

The Explorer’s refreshed features and strong owner satisfaction should help support demand, but resale will still depend on trim, condition, and how well your asking price matches the market. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Ford Explorer safe?

The 2025 Explorer earns five-star side-impact and four-star rollover resistance ratings from NHTSA. It also performs well in IIHS testing, though the headlights on Active, ST-Line, and ST trims are rated Marginal, while the Platinum’s headlights get a Good rating.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Every version includes Ford CoPilot 360 Assist+, which brings adaptive cruise control with lane-centring assist along with common driver-assistance and collision-avoidance systems. ST-Line and higher add Ford CoPilot 360 2.0 with a surround-view camera system, and BlueCruise is standard from ST-Line upward with a 90-day subscription included.

The main safety caveat is the headlight performance gap on lower trims, so if lighting matters to you, the Platinum has the advantage here.

Should I buy a 2025 Ford Explorer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

• Choose the 2025 if:

  • 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
  • Price trend: Prices have softened 12.08% compared with last year.
  • Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
  • It brings a refreshed interior, new infotainment, and updated safety tech.

• Consider the 2026 if:

  • It adds an updated BlueCruise system and a new Tremor off-road model.

• The bottom line: The 2025 is the better pick if you want the refreshed design, stronger value, and a broader pool of used listings to shop from. If you are price-sensitive, the 2025 also looks attractive because the market has softened, while the 2026 makes more sense if you specifically want the newer off-road-focused trim and updated driver-assist tech.
