How much does the 2025 Volkswagen Atlas cost?

Prices have softened 18.43% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 387 listings available, which suggests a modest amount of inventory for you to compare.

Is the 2025 Volkswagen Atlas a good car?

Generally — the 2025 Volkswagen Atlas earns 4/5 from users and 6.67/10 from our experts. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

It’s a midsize, three-row crossover SUV built for North America, and its appeal is centred on comfort and cargo capacity. That makes it a strong fit if you want a family-sized SUV with generous room. The trade-offs are worth weighing, though: fuel economy is poor, the ride quality is disappointing, and the infotainment interface can be frustrating to use.

The Atlas’s strengths are its stylish design, comfortable cabin, and plenty of cargo space. On the downside, the expert test drive notes poor fuel economy, poor ride quality, and unintuitive technology.

The market shows 35.9% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Volkswagen Atlas reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Atlas is described as a practical, family-focused SUV with a comfortable cabin and strong utility, which supports confidence for everyday ownership. Its expert assessment also points to a refined turbocharged four-cylinder engine that is well suited to daily driving.

Volkswagen’s eight-year subscription to Car-Net Safe & Secure adds useful ownership support, including automatic crash notification, SOS emergency assistance, information assistance, a stolen vehicle locator, and an anti-theft alert through the MyVW app.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the Atlas’s poor fuel economy and frustrating native technology may become ongoing annoyances.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Volkswagen Atlas?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Comfortline, Peak Edition, Highline, and Execline are the four trim levels. The Peak Edition is the one that looks like it can go off-roading, while the Execline is the sporty-looking one with the most standard equipment. The base trim is the one most likely to leave you wanting more equipment.
• Powertrain: The Atlas uses a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and 4Motion AWD. It makes 269 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque, and it’s tuned more for refinement and daily driving than quick acceleration.
• Safety package: IQ.Drive is standard and includes Front Assist, Side Assist, Lane Assist, Emergency Assist, Travel Assist, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, and rear cross-traffic alert. Front Assist adds forward collision warning, pedestrian warning, and automatic emergency braking. Lane Assist includes lane-departure warning and lane-keep assist. Side Assist is a blind-spot monitoring system that can actively try to prevent an unsafe lane change. Travel Assist pairs adaptive cruise control with lane-centring assist. Emergency Assist can bring the Atlas to a safe stop if the driver is unresponsive.
• Infotainment: You get a 12-inch touchscreen with VW Group’s MIB3 operating system, standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Car-Net connected services. The system does not have Google built-in, and the native voice assistant is not especially helpful.
• Fuel efficiency: The official Natural Resources Canada ratings for the Execline trim are 12.8 L/100 km city and 11.3 L/100 km combined. The expert test drive also recorded 15.2 L/100 km in urban driving and 12.3 L/100 km over the full route.

Which 2025 Volkswagen Atlas trim should I buy?

The 2025 Volkswagen Atlas is offered in 4 trim levels: Comfortline, Peak Edition, Highline, and Execline.

Here's the short version:

• Comfortline: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Atlas’s space and core family-friendly appeal at the lowest starting point. It’s the trim most likely to feel light on extras compared with the higher versions.
• Peak Edition: This trim adds the more rugged-looking treatment and is the one that looks like it can go off-roading. Choose it if you want a more distinctive appearance without moving all the way to the top of the range.
• Highline: This is the middle-ground choice if you want a more upscale feel than the base trim without jumping straight to the most expensive version.
• Execline: This is the best-value trim if you want the most standard equipment and the most polished presentation. It also brings the sporty-looking appearance and the richest cabin treatment.

IQ.Drive is standard across the lineup, so you don’t need to move up a trim just to get the core driver-assistance suite.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Volkswagen Atlas?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 387 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.43% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $46,249 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Volkswagen Atlas's resale value?

The current average of $46,249 CAD sits slightly below last year's $56,702 CAD.

That price drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can make the Atlas easier to buy now but may also limit upside for a future seller. If you’re planning to own one for a while, the current pricing gives you a better entry point than buyers had a year ago. If you’re thinking about resale, the softer trend means you should focus on buying well and keeping the vehicle in strong condition.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2025 Volkswagen Atlas safe?

The 2025 Volkswagen Atlas earns a five-star overall safety rating from the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The Atlas was also a 2024 Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) “Top Safety Pick,” but updated ratings for 2025 weren’t available at the time of writing.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

IQ.Drive is standard and includes Front Assist, Side Assist, Lane Assist, Emergency Assist, Travel Assist, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go capability, and rear cross-traffic alert. Volkswagen Canada also includes a complimentary eight-year subscription to Car-Net Safe & Secure services with automatic crash notification, SOS emergency assistance, information assistance, a stolen vehicle locator, and an anti-theft alert through the MyVW app.

The expert test drive noted occasional false lane-departure warnings and some Lane Assist confusion when lanes narrowed or widened, but the system remained trustworthy overall.

Should I buy a 2025 Volkswagen Atlas or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 18.43% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It arrives with only minor updates after the more substantial 2024 changes, so you’re getting the latest version without a major redesign.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $41,400 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $46,249 CAD average.
• It brings a major refresh with updated styling and more standard features.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It continues the Atlas’s upscale look and genuinely spacious interior.

The bottom line: If you want the newest used Atlas with the current pricing trend and the latest minor updates, the 2025 is the primary path to consider. If your priority is saving money, the 2024 is the better value play, especially if you’re happy with the refreshed formula.
