Is the 2025 Chevrolet Colorado a good car?

The 2025 Chevrolet Colorado earns an 7.8/10 expert rating.

The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

It is aimed at nearly any type of buyer, with a special emphasis on off-pavement performance, while still being a right-sized truck that should fit in a garage and be easier to park in town. You also get stylish design and easy-to-use technology, which helps broaden its appeal beyond off-road shoppers.

The trade-offs are clear: you may face sticker shock, fuel economy is poor, and value for money is questionable.

With 34.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2025 Chevrolet Colorado reliable?

The Colorado is presented as a strong entry in the midsize truck segment, with a standard turbocharged engine and a straightforward, easy-to-use package that should make ownership feel familiar rather than complicated.

Its performance credentials are strong, and the standard powertrain is described as quick to respond with minimal lag. The available off-road hardware and the truck’s simple technology layout also point to a vehicle that is built around capability and usability.

The Colorado’s standard Chevy Safety Assist package adds forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, a following distance indicator and automatic high beams. Blind-zone steering assist, reverse automatic emergency braking and rear park assist are also standard.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that poor fuel economy and high purchase prices can make it expensive to live with over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2025 Chevrolet Colorado?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: WT is the work-truck starting point, while LT adds body-colour door handles and mirrors plus nicer wheels. Trail Boss adds a factory suspension lift and off-road hardware, Z71 adds a fancier grille and more body-colour elements, and ZR2 brings the most distinctive look with premium off-road equipment.
• Powertrain: Every Colorado uses a 2.7-litre TurboMax four-cylinder with 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic. Four-wheel drive is optional on WT but standard in Canada on LT, Trail Boss, Z71 and ZR2.

Which 2025 Chevrolet Colorado trim should I buy?

The 2025 Chevrolet Colorado is offered in 5 trim levels: WT, LT, Trail Boss, Z71, ZR2.

Here's the short version:

• WT: This is the value-focused starting point if you want the Colorado’s core capability and standard tech without paying for extra appearance or off-road equipment.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more polished look and standard 4WD in Canada while staying below the more expensive adventure-oriented trims.
• Trail Boss: Choose this if you want the factory lift and off-road stance without jumping all the way to the pricier Z71 or ZR2.
• Z71: This trim suits you if you want a more upscale feel and stronger off-road hardware than the LT, while still stopping short of the full ZR2 focus.
• ZR2: This is the one to buy if off-road performance is your priority, with the most serious hardware and the most distinctive appearance.

Chevy Safety Assist is standard across the lineup, and some advanced driver-assistance features remain optional.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2025 Chevrolet Colorado?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to compare listings carefully and move quickly on strong examples.

• Deal availability: 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 191 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.54% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $51,813 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2025 Chevrolet Colorado's resale value?

The current average of $51,813 CAD sits slightly below last year's $59,242 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests buyers have more leverage today than they did a year ago. If you plan to sell later, you should expect the market to reward well-kept, well-equipped trucks more than average examples.

Because the Colorado’s current average is still above the low end of the yearly range, condition and trim will matter a lot when it comes time to resell. Strong off-road trims and clean, low-use trucks should hold up better than plain examples with fewer features.

The 2025 Colorado earns a four-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star frontal crash-test and three-star rollover ratings, and five-star side-impact ratings.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The Colorado comes with standard Chevy Safety Assist, which includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, a following distance indicator and automatic high beams. Blind-zone steering assist, reverse automatic emergency braking and rear park assist are also standard.

Chevy’s Teen Driver technology is standard across all Colorado models, letting parents set speed and audio volume limits for other drivers based on the key being used.

Should I buy a 2025 Chevrolet Colorado or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2025 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2025 if:

• 34.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.54% compared with last year.
• It combines strong standard turbo power with off-road-focused capability and easy-to-use technology.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $47,982 CAD, the 2024 costs less than the current year's $51,813 CAD average.
• It leans more heavily into recreation and lifestyle use.

Consider the 2026 if:

• It keeps the Colorado simple with one powertrain and mostly unchanged equipment.
• It adds a new Bronze Accent Package and revised appearance details.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of current-market availability, capability and tech, the 2025 is the better primary choice. If price matters most, the 2024 is the smarter path to save money.
