Is the 2024 Toyota Sienna a good car?

Generally — the 2024 Toyota Sienna earns 4/5 from users and 7.5/10 from our experts. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 9/10.

The Sienna’s appeal is strongest if you want a family vehicle that blends minivan practicality with efficiency-focused ownership. It is offered only as a hybrid, comes with three rows of seating and power sliding doors, and is described as comfy and easy to live with. The trade-offs are that performance is fairly pedestrian and the technology is looking a bit outdated.

The Sienna’s market availability is fairly healthy, with 28.0% of listings classified as good or great deals.

Is the 2024 Toyota Sienna reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Toyota Sienna is presented as a practical, efficiency-first family hauler with standard safety equipment and a hybrid powertrain that should appeal to buyers who value low running costs. Its dependability story is reinforced by the emphasis on straightforward family use, comfort, and strong fuel economy.

Toyota’s hybrid setup is described as a key strength, and the model’s fuel-sipping nature supports the idea of a vehicle built for steady, everyday ownership. If you buy used, the main long-term risk is that some examples may show the usual wear-and-tear of family duty, especially if you want a cleaner cabin and well-kept tech.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Toyota Sienna?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Sienna is available in LE, XLE, XSE, and Limited trim levels. The base trim gets cloth seats, three-zone climate control, room for eight, LED lighting all the way around, and standard safety features, while upper trims add Bi-LED projector headlamps and more upscale cabin touches.
• Powertrain: Every Sienna uses a 2.5-litre four-cylinder hybrid setup with two electric motors and a small battery pack, producing 245 horsepower. AWD versions add a rear electric motor, but the driving character remains more about efficiency than excitement.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense is standard across the board and includes lane departure alert, automatic emergency braking that can detect a pedestrian or cyclist, road sign recognition, full-speed adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert.
• Infotainment: You get a nine-inch touchscreen with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus physical buttons for common menus. Some trims add in-dash navigation, and available tech includes SiriusXM satellite radio, a 12-speaker JBL stereo, and a rear-camera mirror.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid powertrain is rated at 6.6 L/100 km city, 6.5 L/100 km highway, and 6.6 L/100 km combined in front-wheel-drive models. AWD versions rise slightly to 6.8 L/100 km city, 6.6 L/100 km highway, and 6.7 L/100 km combined.

Which 2024 Toyota Sienna trim should I buy?

The 2024 Toyota Sienna is offered in 4 trim levels: LE, XLE, XSE, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the value-focused starting point, and it gives you the core Sienna formula: hybrid efficiency, three rows, power sliding doors, and standard safety equipment. It makes the most sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model.
• XLE: This trim is the sensible step up if you want a little more comfort and convenience without chasing the top end. It should suit you if you want a better-equipped family hauler while staying close to the Sienna’s practical mission.
• XSE: This is the sportier-looking choice, with a black metallic mesh front grille, black heated side mirrors, 20-inch dark wheels, and leatherette-trimmed sport seats. It is the best-value pick if you want the most distinctive appearance and a more upscale-feeling cabin.
• Limited: This is the trim to consider if you want the most premium Sienna experience, including the upper-end lighting and equipment touches described in the review. It suits you best if comfort and features matter more than price.

Toyota Safety Sense is standard across the range, so you do not need to move up a trim just to get the core driver-assistance suite.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 28.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 236 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.13% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $53,305 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Toyota Sienna's resale value?

The current average of $54,657 CAD sits slightly below last year's $58,854 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you as a buyer now but may temper what a future seller can ask in the short term. Even so, the Sienna’s efficiency-first appeal and family-friendly practicality should continue to support demand. If you keep the vehicle in good condition, its broad usefulness should help it remain attractive to used shoppers.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

The 2024 Toyota Sienna earns Good ratings from IIHS and four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover, and five-star ratings in side crash protection from NHTSA.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense is standard and includes lane departure alert, automatic emergency braking that can detect a pedestrian or cyclist, road sign recognition, full-speed adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard.

One caveat is that front crash prevention is rated as Average by IIHS, so that is worth keeping in mind if safety performance is a top priority for you.

Should I buy a 2024 Toyota Sienna or consider a different year?

• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.13% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It combines hybrid efficiency, standard safety features, and a distinctive minivan design.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $50,346 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $54,657 CAD average.
• It offers strong efficiency and practical family usefulness.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $59,196 CAD, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $54,657 CAD average.
• It adds a quieter cabin, easier everyday use, and available AWD.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of current pricing and model-year freshness, the 2024 is the sweet spot. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2023 is the better value play, while the 2025 makes sense if you want the newer-feeling cabin and can spend more.
