CarGurus Analysis: 2024 Toyota Highlander Hybrid
Summary
With 69 currently listed for sale and an average price of $55,334 CAD, 24.6% of 2024 Toyota Highlander Hybrid listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 Toyota Highlander Hybrid 5 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2024 Toyota Highlander Hybrid stands out as a practical three-row family SUV with a strong reputation for reliability and efficiency. It offers seating for up to eight, depending on trim, and its cabin is designed around everyday usefulness rather than flash. Buyers also get standard all-wheel drive in Canada, along with a hybrid powertrain that pairs a four-cylinder engine with a continuously variable transmission. Natural Resources Canada estimates fuel efficiency at 6.7 litres per 100 kilometres combined, which is a major part of its appeal for families looking to keep running costs in check.
This generation also brings a good amount of standard technology and safety equipment. Every version includes Android Auto or Apple CarPlay compatibility, and Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 or better is standard, along with adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, lane departure alert, automatic high beams, rear cross-traffic alert, and blind spot monitoring. The 2024 model year also added a power liftgate starting from the XLE grade, and Toyota introduced the Nightshade Edition with blacked-out elements. For shoppers who want a well-equipped hybrid SUV that is easy to live with, the Highlander Hybrid makes a strong case.
Its strengths are balanced by a few familiar drawbacks. The third row is useful, but it is still best suited to kids, and the vehicle is not the most exciting to drive. Towing capacity is also limited. Even so, the 2024 Toyota Highlander Hybrid remains appealing because it combines family-friendly space, standard all-wheel drive, strong safety content, and efficient hybrid operation in one package.

Is the 2024 Toyota Highlander Hybrid a good car?

It stands out as a practical three-row family SUV with seating for up to eight, depending on trim, and its cabin is built around everyday usefulness rather than flash. You also get standard all-wheel drive in Canada, plus a hybrid powertrain that helps keep running costs in check. With 24.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2024 Toyota Highlander Hybrid reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The 2024 Toyota Highlander Hybrid is described as having a strong reputation for reliability, and its standard safety and technology content adds to its appeal for family use. It also combines a hybrid powertrain with standard all-wheel drive, which supports its practical, low-stress ownership profile. For used buyers, that points to relatively low long-term ownership risk if the vehicle has been maintained properly.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Toyota Highlander Hybrid?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting deep discounts everywhere.

What is the 2024 Toyota Highlander Hybrid's resale value?
The current average of $55,279 CAD sits slightly below last year's $58,011 CAD.
That softer pricing can help you buy at a more favourable point in the cycle, but it also means a future seller may need to be realistic about expectations. The Highlander Hybrid’s practical three-row layout, standard all-wheel drive, and efficiency-focused setup should continue to support demand among family buyers. If market conditions stay steady, that combination can help cushion depreciation.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2024 Toyota Highlander Hybrid or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 24.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 4.71% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $48,479 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $55,279 CAD average.
- It offers quiet cabin manners and standard advanced safety features.
The bottom line: Choose the 2024 if you want the stronger current-market mix of pricing, inventory, and satisfaction. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2023 is the better value-focused alternative.
