Used 2024 Subaru Outback for Sale nearNewmarket, ON

How much does the 2024 Subaru Outback cost?

Prices have softened 13.84% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 350 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Subaru Outback a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Subaru Outback earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 7.83/10 expert rating, which supports its appeal as a practical, comfort-focused choice. The model’s raised wagon shape gives you SUV-like visibility and a more car-like footprint, while the broad trim range lets you choose between a straightforward setup and a more premium feel.

The model scores 9/10 across Cost effectiveness and Safety.

Its strengths are clear in the spacious interior, strong safety ratings, and good ride quality. The main trade-offs are the underwhelming base engine and the dated infotainment system, so you should be comfortable prioritising comfort and utility over the latest tech polish.

With 31.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still decent market availability if you want to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Subaru Outback reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Outback’s reliability case is helped by its practical design, standard all-wheel drive, and reputation for everyday usefulness. The expert assessment also points to strong safety and a comfortable ride, both of which tend to matter in long-term ownership because they reduce the sense that the vehicle is tiring or compromised over time.

The base engine is described as underwhelming, so used buyers should pay close attention to whether the powertrain suits their driving needs before committing.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Subaru Outback?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: Convenience and Touring trims use cloth seats, while Onyx and Wilderness get StarTex synthetic leather and the Limited trims add standard leather seating surfaces. The Premier XT brings the most chrome, a Java Brown Nappa leather interior, and the most premium feel.
• Powertrain: The default engine is a 2.5-litre flat-four with 182 horsepower and 176 lb-ft of torque, while XT trims and the Wilderness use a 2.4-litre turbocharged boxer four-cylinder with 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque. The turbo setup also raises towing capacity from 1,225 to 1,587 kilograms.
• Safety package: The EyeSight suite is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with lane-centring, automatic pre-collision braking, and lane-keep assist. Reverse automatic braking starts with Touring, while blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic emergency steering arrive on Touring and above.
• Infotainment: The Convenience trim keeps the dual-7-inch-screen system, while other trims get the larger 11.6-inch portrait-oriented screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and wireless connectivity starts with Touring.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine is rated at 9.2 L/100 km city, 7.3 highway, and 8.3 combined. The turbo engine is estimated at 10.6 city, 8.1 highway, and 9.5 combined, while the Wilderness is rated at 11.0 city, 9.0 highway, and 10.1 combined.

Which 2024 Subaru Outback trim should I buy?

The 2024 Subaru Outback is offered in 7 trim levels: Convenience, Touring, Onyx, Limited, Wilderness, Limited XT, and Premier XT.

Here's the short version:

• Convenience: This is the most affordable way into the Outback, but it also keeps the dual-7-inch-screen setup and a four-speaker audio system, so it makes the clearest trade-offs in comfort and tech.
• Touring: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus the larger 11.6-inch screen and more safety equipment.
• Onyx: Choose this if you want a more distinctive look and StarTex synthetic leather without stepping all the way up to the pricier luxury-oriented trims.
• Limited: This trim is the better pick if you want leather seating surfaces and a more upscale cabin without moving into turbo territory.
• Wilderness: This is the right choice if you want the turbo engine, higher ground clearance, all-terrain tires, and the dual-function X-Mode system for rougher conditions.
• Limited XT: This gives you the turbo engine with a more premium feel than the Wilderness, making it a strong fit if you want extra power without the rugged styling focus.
• Premier XT: This is the most luxurious version, with the turbo engine, Nappa leather, the CD player, a digital rearview mirror, and a driver-attention monitor.

The Touring trim is the best-value pick for most buyers, while the Wilderness is the one to target if you want the turbo engine and extra capability. The Touring trim also marks the point where reverse automatic braking and additional driver-assistance features begin.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Subaru Outback?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 350 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.84% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $34,400 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Subaru Outback's resale value?

The current average of $34,420 CAD sits slightly below last year's $39,948 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the market has moved in buyers’ favour, which can make the Outback easier to purchase now but may also limit upside for a future seller. If you buy at the current average, your resale position will depend heavily on trim, condition, and mileage. Higher-spec versions with desirable equipment should remain easier to move than base models with fewer features.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Subaru Outback safe?

The 2024 Subaru Outback earns a Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and five-star ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The EyeSight suite is standard, so every Outback gets adaptive cruise control with lane-centring, automatic pre-collision braking, and lane-keep assist. Reverse automatic braking starts with Touring, while blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic emergency steering are added on Touring and above. Subaru also added a wide-angle camera for 2024 to improve cyclist and pedestrian detection.

A key caveat is that the Outback drops from the previous model year’s Top Safety Pick+ result to Top Safety Pick, even though the breakdown of the IIHS evaluation results did not change.

Should I buy a 2024 Subaru Outback or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 13.84% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds feature-enriched trims and trim-specific aesthetic tweaks.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $31,401 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $34,420 CAD average.
• It adds fresh styling, new infotainment and safety tech, and the Onyx Edition.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $39,813 CAD, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $34,420 CAD average.
• It remains a rugged wagon with a distinctive long-roof shape.

The bottom line: The 2024 Outback is the right pick if you want the current-year mix of safety, practicality, and a broad trim range at a softened market price. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2023 is the better value play, while the 2025 makes sense only if you specifically want the newer model-year alternative and are comfortable paying more.
