How much does the 2024 Subaru Forester cost?

Prices have softened 10.61% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 311 listings available, which suggests you have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Subaru Forester a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. The 2024 Forester stands out for standard symmetrical all-wheel drive, a practical cabin, and a strong emphasis on safety and everyday usability. It also benefits from the Subaru Global Platform, which improved ride quality, stability, handling and crash protection, while the broad trim range gives you options from well-equipped basics to more upscale comfort features. With 29.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Subaru Forester reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Forester’s appeal is built around practicality, safety content and a reputation for reliability, which are all useful traits in a used SUV. That said, the CVT can feel sluggish, and some early models in this generation had minor CVT issues, so service records matter.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the transmission has been maintained properly.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Subaru Forester?

This looks like a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting deep discounts everywhere.

• Deal availability: 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 311 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.61% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $34,516 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Subaru Forester's resale value?

The current average of $34,943 CAD sits slightly below last year's $39,092 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favourable point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays soft. For a seller, the current trend suggests you should expect value to depend heavily on condition, mileage and maintenance history. Well-kept examples should still draw interest because the Forester’s practical layout and safety focus remain appealing.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2024 Subaru Forester or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.61% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $29,686 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $34,943 CAD average.
• It prioritises practicality with roomy space and standard all-wheel drive.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $38,005 CAD, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $34,943 CAD average.
• It adds a better-equipped base model and a quieter cabin.

The bottom line: The 2024 is the best all-around pick if you want a well-equipped Forester with strong owner satisfaction and a softer market price. If your priority is spending less, the 2023 is the value play; if you want newer refinements and can pay more, the 2025 is the upgrade path.
