Used 2024 Subaru Ascent for Sale nearVancouver, BC

How much does the 2024 Subaru Ascent cost?

Prices have softened 22.23% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 166 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of choice if you are comparing trims and prices.

Is the 2024 Subaru Ascent a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Subaru Ascent earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.8/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

It stands out as a three-row SUV for you if you want Subaru’s standard all-wheel drive, substantial ground clearance, and a family-focused layout. The Ascent’s practical character and strong safety reputation make it appealing if you prioritise peace of mind and all-weather confidence.

The trade-offs are clear: the fuel economy is unimpressive, the interior design feels outdated, and the lane-centring technology can be irritating.

With 36.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful market opportunity if you are shopping carefully.

Is the 2024 Subaru Ascent reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Ascent’s overall package points to solid dependability for family use, with standard all-wheel drive and a straightforward, practical design that suits daily driving and weekend trips. Subaru’s safety-first approach also supports confidence in long-term ownership.

Its turbocharged 2.4-litre engine and CVT are presented as a durable, mainstream setup rather than a complicated one, and the vehicle’s standard all-wheel-drive system adds to its all-weather usefulness. Subaru also positions the Ascent as a good-value choice compared with similarly equipped rivals.

If you buy used, the main long-term ownership risk is that higher fuel use can make it more expensive to run than you might expect.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Subaru Ascent?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: In Canada, the 2024 Ascent lineup is unchanged and continues in Convenience, Touring, Onyx, Limited, and Premier trim levels. The base Convenience trim misses some higher-end equipment, while Touring adds a panoramic sunroof and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and reverse automatic braking. Limited and Premier add a navigation system and a 14-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system, and Premier brings premium Nappa leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, a surround-view camera, and a digital rearview camera.
• Powertrain: Every 2024 Ascent uses a turbocharged 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine with 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque, paired with a CVT and standard all-wheel drive with active torque vectoring. It is tuned more for everyday family use and rough-road confidence than for sporty driving.
• Safety package: EyeSight includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and reverse automatic braking are not standard on Convenience and require Touring or above.
• Infotainment: Subaru’s Starlink system uses an 11.6-inch portrait touchscreen with Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and text-messaging capability. Navigation and the 14-speaker Harman Kardon system are available higher up the range, and Cabin Connect is available on upper trims.
• Fuel efficiency: The official fuel consumption figures are 12.3 L/100 km in the city, 9.4 L/100 km on the highway, and 11.0 L/100 km combined. In testing, it returned 14.0 L/100 km in the city and 12.6 L/100 km overall.

Which 2024 Subaru Ascent trim should I buy?

The 2024 Subaru Ascent is offered in 5 trim levels: Convenience, Touring, Onyx, Limited, and Premier.

Here's the short version:

• Convenience: This is the entry point, and it gives you the core Ascent formula of standard all-wheel drive, the turbocharged 2.4-litre engine, and Subaru’s safety-first approach. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the model, but you give up some of the nicer convenience and safety upgrades found higher up.
• Touring: This is the trim that starts to feel more complete because it adds a panoramic sunroof and the blind-spot monitoring system with rear cross-traffic alert and reverse automatic braking. If you want the best balance of equipment and value, this is the trim to focus on first.
• Onyx: This trim is part of the lineup’s more style-focused middle ground and suits you if you want a different look without jumping all the way to the top. It keeps the Ascent’s practical strengths while broadening your choices beyond the entry trim.
• Limited: This is where the Ascent starts to feel more upscale, with navigation and the 14-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system included. It is a strong pick if you want more comfort and tech without going all the way to Premier.
• Premier: This is the most fully equipped Ascent, with premium Nappa leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, a surround-view camera, and a digital rearview camera. Choose it if you want the most luxury and convenience features Subaru offers in this model.

The safety package is anchored by EyeSight, while blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and reverse automatic braking move up from Convenience to Touring and above.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Subaru Ascent?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient and compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 166 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 22.23% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $37,401 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Subaru Ascent's resale value?

The current average of $37,798 CAD sits slightly below last year's $48,603 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may also limit how much room a future seller has to command a premium. If you buy at the right price, you reduce the risk of taking a bigger depreciation hit later.

For resale, the Ascent’s appeal should remain tied to its family-friendly layout, standard all-wheel drive, and strong safety reputation. Those are the kinds of traits that keep used demand steady even when the broader market softens.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Subaru Ascent safe?

The 2024 Subaru Ascent earns five-star ratings in all NHTSA assessments except rollover resistance, where it earns a four-star accolade, and it also earned a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard EyeSight suite includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. That gives you a broad set of standard driver aids right from the start.

One important caveat is that blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and reverse automatic braking are not standard on the Convenience trim and require Touring or above. The lane-centring assist system is also a weak point, with behaviour that can feel intrusive and inconsistent in real-world driving.

Should I buy a 2024 Subaru Ascent or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 22.23% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 model carries on with almost no changes, so you are getting the familiar Ascent formula rather than paying for a major redesign.

The bottom line: If you want the current Ascent’s familiar mix of standard all-wheel drive, strong safety credentials, and family-friendly utility, the 2024 is the straightforward choice. If you are especially price-sensitive, you can use the softer market to target a lower-priced listing and focus on the trims that give you the best equipment for the money.
