Used 2024 Subaru Ascent for Sale nearScarborough, ON

How much does the 2024 Subaru Ascent cost?

Prices have softened 22.12% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 164 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Subaru Ascent a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Subaru Ascent earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

It stands out as a three-row SUV for you if you want room for the whole family, standard all-wheel drive, and substantial ground clearance. That gives it a more rugged character than many mainstream midsize SUVs, and its safety reputation is another clear draw if peace of mind matters to you.

The trade-offs are familiar: fuel economy is unimpressive, the interior design feels outdated, and the lane-centering technology can be irritating.

With 37.2% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2024 Subaru Ascent reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Subaru Ascent’s appeal comes from a straightforward formula: standard all-wheel drive, a practical three-row layout, and a safety-first reputation. It is also described as a good value for the money, which matters when you are looking at a used family SUV that needs to do a bit of everything.

Its turbocharged 2.4-litre engine and CVT are presented as a capable pairing for daily driving, weekend trips, and rougher roads, and the transmission is described as doing a convincing job of mimicking a conventional automatic most of the time. Subaru also positions the model as a family-friendly, safety-focused SUV with strong crash-test performance.

If you are buying used, the main long-term ownership risk is that the same fuel-economy weakness and irritating lane-centering behaviour remain part of the package.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Subaru Ascent?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: In Canada, the 2024 Ascent lineup is unchanged and continues in Convenience, Touring, Onyx, Limited, and Premier trim levels. The base Convenience trim misses some higher-end equipment, while the Touring trim adds a panoramic sunroof and also unlocks blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and reverse automatic braking. The Premier trim brings premium Nappa leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, and a surround-view camera.
• Powertrain: Every 2024 Ascent uses a turbocharged 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine with 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque, paired with a CVT and standard all-wheel drive with active torque vectoring. Subaru says towing capacity reaches 2,270 kilograms, though the Convenience trim is rated at 908 kilograms.
• Safety package: EyeSight is standard and includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and reverse automatic braking require an upgrade to Touring, and Driver Focus with facial recognition is available higher up the range.
• Infotainment: Subaru’s Starlink system uses an 11.6-inch portrait touchscreen and includes Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and text-messaging capability. Navigation and a 14-speaker Harman Kardon system are available on higher trims, while a surround-view camera and digital rearview camera are included on Premier.
• Fuel efficiency: Official Natural Resources Canada ratings are 12.3 L/100 km in the city, 9.4 L/100 km on the highway, and 11.0 L/100 km combined. In testing, it returned 14.0 L/100 km in the city and 12.6 L/100 km overall.

Which 2024 Subaru Ascent trim should I buy?

The 2024 Subaru Ascent is offered in 5 trim levels: Convenience, Touring, Onyx, Limited, and Premier.

Here's the short version:

• Convenience: This is the entry point, but it is best for you only if you want the lowest starting price and are comfortable giving up some of the nicer convenience and safety upgrades found higher in the range.
• Touring: This is the best-value trim if you want a more complete family SUV, because it adds the panoramic sunroof and unlocks blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and reverse automatic braking.
• Onyx: Choose this if you want a darker, more distinctive look within the lineup, while still staying within the mainstream Ascent formula.
• Limited: This is the trim to target if you want a stronger mix of comfort and tech, since it adds the navigation system and the 14-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system.
• Premier: This is the most fully equipped choice, with premium Nappa leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, a surround-view camera, and the digital rearview camera.

The safety-package upgrade from Convenience to Touring is the key trim-level note to keep in mind.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Subaru Ascent?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you are shopping now.

• Deal availability: 37.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 164 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 22.12% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $37,409 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Subaru Ascent's resale value?

The current average of $37,890 CAD sits slightly below last year's $48,653 CAD.

That price drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit how much value a future seller can recover in the near term. If you buy at the right price, you reduce the risk of taking the steepest part of the depreciation hit yourself.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Subaru Ascent safe?

The 2024 Subaru Ascent earns five-star ratings in all NHTSA assessments except rollover resistance, where it earns a four-star accolade, and it also earned a Top Safety Pick+ rating from IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

EyeSight is the standard driver-assistance suite, and it includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. If you want blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and reverse automatic braking, you need to move up from Convenience to Touring.

One caveat is the lane-centring assist system, which can be irritating and uncertain in real-world use, especially around highway ramps and changing lane markings.

Should I buy a 2024 Subaru Ascent or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 37.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 22.12% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 model continues with almost no changes, so you are getting the familiar Ascent formula with standard all-wheel drive, strong safety credentials, and a practical three-row layout.

The bottom line: If you want the current Ascent formula and you find a well-priced example, the 2024 is a sensible used buy. If you are especially price-sensitive, a nearby model year may be worth comparing, but the 2024 remains appealing because it combines strong safety, standard all-wheel drive, and family-friendly utility in a straightforward package.
