Used 2024 Subaru Ascent for Sale near Sarnia, ON

How much does the 2024 Subaru Ascent cost?

Prices have softened 23.89% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 172 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Subaru Ascent a good car?

Yes — the 2024 Subaru Ascent earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.83/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Form and function at 9/10.

It fits you well if you want a three-row SUV with room for the whole family, standard all-wheel drive, and substantial ground clearance. That combination gives it a more rugged character than many mainstream midsize SUVs, and its safety reputation is a major part of the appeal.

The trade-offs are clear: fuel economy is unimpressive, the interior design feels outdated, and the lane-centering technology can be irritating.

With 33.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to find a strong-value example.

Is the 2024 Subaru Ascent reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Subaru Ascent is built around Subaru’s safety-first, family-focused formula, and its standard all-wheel drive and substantial ground clearance reinforce that durable, go-anywhere character. The expert assessment also points to a good-value proposition for buyers who want a straightforward three-row SUV rather than a heavily complicated one.

Its turbocharged 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine is paired with a CVT and standard AWD, and the overall package is described as agreeable for daily driving and weekend use. Subaru’s EyeSight system is also a core part of the ownership experience, though the lane-centring assist can be frustrating in real-world use.

If you buy used, the main long-term risk is living with the Ascent’s fuel consumption and the possibility that its driver-assistance tuning may continue to annoy you over time.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Subaru Ascent?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup runs from Convenience to Touring, Onyx, Limited, and Premier. Base-trim equipment is more limited, while Touring and above add more comfort and convenience features; Premier brings the most upscale equipment, including premium Nappa leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, and a surround-view camera.
• Powertrain: Every 2024 Ascent uses a turbocharged 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine with 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque, paired with a CVT and standard all-wheel drive. It is tuned for everyday usability rather than sporty driving, and fuel economy is not a strong point.
• Safety package: EyeSight is standard and includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and reverse automatic braking requires Touring or higher.
• Infotainment: You get an 11.6-inch portrait touchscreen with Bluetooth, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, and text-messaging capability. Navigation and a 14-speaker Harman Kardon system are available higher up the range, and the display can wash out in direct sunlight.
• Fuel efficiency: The official fuel consumption figures are 12.3 L/100 km in the city, 9.4 L/100 km on the highway, and 11.0 L/100 km combined. In testing, it returned 14.0 L/100 km in the city and 12.6 L/100 km overall.

Which 2024 Subaru Ascent trim should I buy?

The 2024 Subaru Ascent is offered in 5 trim levels: Convenience, Touring, Onyx, Limited, and Premier.

Here's the short version:

• Convenience: This is the entry point, but it is the trim most likely to leave you wanting more because some key safety and comfort features arrive higher up the range. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Ascent, but it is not the best-value pick.
• Touring: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a panoramic sunroof and unlocks blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and reverse automatic braking. If you want a better-equipped family SUV without going all the way to the top, this is the sweet spot.
• Onyx: Choose this if you want a darker, more distinctive look and a trim that sits above the mainstream middle of the range. It suits you if style matters and you want something a little less conventional.
• Limited: This is the trim to target if you want a stronger mix of comfort and technology, including the navigation system and the 14-speaker Harman Kardon premium sound system. It is a good fit if you spend lots of time in the vehicle and want a more premium feel.
• Premier: This is the top trim and the one to buy if you want the most complete Ascent experience, including premium Nappa leather upholstery, ventilated front seats, a surround-view camera, and the digital rearview camera. It is the right choice if you want the most luxury and convenience features Subaru offers here.

The safety-package gap to remember is that blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and reverse automatic braking are not standard on Convenience.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Subaru Ascent?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 172 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 23.89% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $37,401 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Subaru Ascent's resale value?

The current average of $37,866 CAD sits slightly below last year's $49,753 CAD.

That price drop suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, which can make it harder for a future seller to command top dollar right away. If you buy now, you may benefit from the softer pricing, but you should also expect resale values to reflect the same downward pressure if the market stays competitive.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Subaru Ascent safe?

The 2024 Subaru Ascent earns five-star ratings in all NHTSA assessments except rollover resistance, where it earns a four-star rating, and it was named a Top Safety Pick+ by the IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Its standard EyeSight suite includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centring assist, adaptive cruise control, evasive steering assist, and automatic high-beam headlights. That is a strong standard safety list for a family SUV.

The main caveat is that blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and reverse automatic braking are not standard on the Convenience trim, and the lane-centring assist system can be irritating in real-world use.

Should I buy a 2024 Subaru Ascent or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 23.89% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2024 continues with almost no changes, so you are getting the familiar Subaru formula with standard all-wheel drive, substantial ground clearance, and strong safety ratings.

The bottom line: If you want the current Ascent formula at a softer price, the 2024 is the sensible pick. If you are especially price-sensitive, a used example from a nearby year may be worth comparing, but the 2024 remains attractive because it combines strong safety, standard AWD, and a practical three-row layout.
