Is the 2024 Mazda MAZDA3 a good car?

Yes — with a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating, it lands in the strong-overall category for shoppers who value polish. The 2024 Mazda MAZDA3 is aimed at you if you want a compact car that feels more upscale than many mainstream rivals, with excellent driving dynamics, beautiful styling, and a design that has aged with grace. The trade-offs are clear: the trim structure can be confusing, cargo space is limited, and the rear seat is cramped. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

With 33.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful value to be found if you shop carefully.

Is the 2024 Mazda MAZDA3 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2024 Mazda MAZDA3 is presented as a polished, well-finished compact car that combines refinement with enjoyable driving dynamics. Its safety performance is also a strength, with strong crash-test results and a broad set of driver-assistance features available across the range. The performance content points to a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre four-cylinder as standard, with a turbocharged version available on higher trims, giving you flexibility depending on how much power you want.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that some of the more desirable equipment is tied to higher trims, so you’ll want to verify the exact feature set before you buy.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Mazda MAZDA3?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The GX, GS, GT, and Suna trims are separated by meaningful equipment gaps, especially in comfort and convenience features. The base trim misses some of the driver-assistance and premium touches that appear higher up the range.
• Powertrain: You get a standard naturally aspirated 2.5-litre four-cylinder, while a turbocharged 2.5-litre four-cylinder is available on higher trims. The turbo setup adds much stronger output, but it also comes with higher fuel use.
• Safety package: Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard, while automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control with stop-and-go begin at GS. GT adds Traffic Jam Assist.
• Infotainment: Most trims use an 8.8-inch display, while a new available 10.25-inch screen adds touchscreen functionality only for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Wireless CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, and wireless charging is available on upper trims.
• Fuel efficiency: Fuel consumption measures 8.4 L/100 km in the city, 6.3 on the highway, and 7.5 combined for FWD, non-turbo sedans, while turbocharged AWD versions use 10.1/7.3/8.8 for the sedan and 10.1/7.5/8.9 for the hatchback.

Which 2024 Mazda MAZDA3 trim should I buy?

The 2024 Mazda MAZDA3 is offered in 4 trim levels: GX, GS, GT, and Suna.

Here's the short version:

• GX: This is the entry point, but it’s best if you’re focused on keeping the purchase price down and can live without some of the richer equipment found higher up.
• GS: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds important safety and convenience features without pushing you into the most expensive versions.
• GT: Choose this if you want the more premium feel, stronger available equipment, and the added Traffic Jam Assist feature.
• Suna: This is the most upscale hatchback choice, aimed at you if you want the most distinctive and premium-feeling version of the range.

The safety package starts with blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, while more advanced driver assistance begins at GS.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Mazda MAZDA3?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can be choosy if you’re comparing multiple listings.

• Deal availability: 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 248 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.94% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $26,642 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Mazda MAZDA3's resale value?

The current average of $26,780 CAD sits slightly below last year's $28,778 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you as a buyer today, but it also means a future seller may need to be realistic about expectations if the market stays competitive. The year-round range suggests there is still some room for prices to move within a fairly tight band, which can support stability rather than dramatic swings. If you buy well now, you may be better positioned to limit depreciation later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 Mazda MAZDA3 safe?

The 2024 Mazda3, in both hatchback and sedan forms, was awarded five stars from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). Additionally, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) named it a 2024 Top Safety Pick+.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are standard, while automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and Adaptive Cruise Control with stop-and-go begin at GS. GT adds Traffic Jam Assist. That means the base trim gives you a useful starting point, but you’ll need to move up the range for the fuller driver-assistance suite.

Should I buy a 2024 Mazda MAZDA3 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 33.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.94% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It blends upscale styling, strong driving dynamics, and multiple powertrain choices.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $25,231 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $26,780 CAD average.
• It feels more upscale than many compact cars.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $28,069 CAD, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $26,780 CAD average.
• It adds Amazon Alexa Built-in on GT and higher trims.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of value, style, and available inventory, the 2024 is the strongest all-around pick. If your priority is spending less, the 2023 is the better budget route, while the 2025 makes sense if you want the newer tech updates and are willing to pay more.
