How much does the 2024 Kia Sorento cost?

Prices have softened 11.51% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 341 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Kia Sorento a good car?

The 2024 Kia Sorento earns an 8.67/10 expert rating.

The model scores 9/10 across Form and function, Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

It fits well if you want a value-focused family SUV with a standard third row, more room than a compact crossover, and a smaller footprint than many three-row midsize SUVs. The refresh also gives it a more upscale look and easier-to-use technology, while the added X-Pro trim broadens its appeal.

The main trade-offs are the cramped third row and the underwhelming base engine, and the top trims can get expensive.

With 31.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful value in the market.

Is the 2024 Kia Sorento reliable?

The 2024 Sorento is presented as a solidly assembled family SUV with a strong value proposition and a broad feature set. Its updated safety and infotainment systems add to the sense that Kia has kept the model current and easy to live with.

The expert evaluation also points to a well-rounded package: the Sorento feels practical, its technology is easier to use, and the gas-powered versions are straightforward to understand from an ownership perspective. The performance notes also suggest the turbocharged version is the better long-term fit if you want stronger everyday drivability.

If you want the added convenience of maintenance support, the available ownership perks can help reduce early running costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is choosing a version that feels underpowered or too expensive for the equipment you actually need.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Kia Sorento?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The LX, EX, X-Line, X-Line Limited, and X-Pro each bring different levels of style, equipment, and capability. The base trim misses some of the nicer cabin touches and advanced features found higher up the range.
• Powertrain: The LX uses a 2.5-litre four-cylinder with 191 horsepower and 181 pound-feet of torque, while EX and higher trims use a turbocharged 2.5-litre with 281 horsepower and 311 pound-feet of torque. The base engine is described as overmatched, while the turbo feels much more lively.
• Safety package: Kia’s standard suite includes adaptive cruise control with stop and go, forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-following and lane-keeping assist, rear cross-traffic alert with emergency braking, and blind-spot monitoring. Highway Driving Assist is available, and Highway Driving Assist 2 is reserved for the top two trims.
• Infotainment: All trims use a 12.3-inch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and over-the-air updates. X-Line Limited and X-Pro add twin 12.3-inch displays, while navigation is standard from the X-Line trim up.
• Fuel efficiency: The non-turbo gas version is rated at 9.4 L/100 km combined, while the turbocharged version is rated at 10.3 L/100 km combined.

Which 2024 Kia Sorento trim should I buy?

The 2024 Kia Sorento is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, EX, X-Line, X-Line Limited, and X-Pro.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it is best only if you want the lowest price and can live with the weaker 2.5-litre engine and fewer features.
• EX: This is the best-value trim because it adds the stronger turbocharged engine and keeps the Sorento’s price in a more reasonable range.
• X-Line: Choose this if you want the more rugged look and the added capability that comes with the X-Line treatment.
• X-Line Limited: This is the better pick if you want a more upscale cabin and more of the Sorento’s premium equipment without going all the way to the top.
• X-Pro: This is the most capable choice, with all-terrain tyres, higher ground clearance, improved towing capacity, and the most adventurous character.

The top two trims also bring the most advanced safety tech, including Highway Driving Assist 2.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Kia Sorento?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 341 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.51% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $37,672 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $37,688 CAD sits slightly below last year's $42,589 CAD.

That price drop suggests the Sorento has become more attractive for used buyers, but it also means sellers may need to be realistic about expectations. If you own one, the market is still giving you a decent value base, but the softer pricing trend means you should not expect a strong premium unless your vehicle is especially well equipped or lightly used. For future resale, higher trims and desirable equipment should hold up better than a basic version with the weaker engine.

Is the 2024 Kia Sorento safe?

The 2024 Kia Sorento earns “Good” ratings in IIHS’s small overlap, original moderate overlap front, and original side tests, and it earns an “Acceptable” rating for LATCH.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Kia’s standard safety suite includes adaptive cruise control with stop and go, forward automatic emergency braking with pedestrian and cyclist detection, lane-following and lane-keeping assist, rear cross-traffic alert with emergency braking, and blind-spot monitoring. Navigation-based adaptive cruise control and Highway Driving Assist are available, while Highway Driving Assist 2 is reserved for the top two trims.

The main caveat is the LATCH result, which trails the rest of the safety story. Even so, the Sorento’s standard safety equipment is a major strength, and the available camera and driver-assistance upgrades make it especially appealing if safety is a priority.

Should I buy a 2024 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.51% compared with last year.
• The 2024 brings a refresh, easier-to-use tech, and more standard safety features.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $41,587 CAD, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $37,688 CAD average.
• It keeps the refreshed formula and adds a more right-sized feel for buyers who want the latest version.

The bottom line: The 2024 is the better buy if you want the strongest mix of price, features, and value. If you are willing to spend more for the newer model year, the 2025 is the cleaner choice, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2024 while the market is softer.
