How much does the 2024 Hyundai Elantra cost?

There are 995 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Hyundai Elantra a good car?

The 2024 Hyundai Elantra is a strong fit if you want a compact sedan that blends style, versatility, and value, though its appeal depends on whether you like its design and can live with the base-engine setup. It earns 3/5 from users and 7.3/10 from experts.

The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Form and function, and Cost effectiveness.

The test-drive summary describes it as a genuinely sporty, well-constructed car that competes on how it drives and feels, not just on price and equipment. It also says the 2024 refresh adds more style and standard equipment, which helps the car feel more substantial than Hyundai’s older bargain-first image.

Trade-offs: The design may be polarising, and the base engine is underwhelming. The interior materials can also feel cheap, especially if you expect a more upscale cabin.

If you want a compact sedan that can be comfortable, economical, and entertaining, the Elantra fits that brief well. The market shows 34.7% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2024 Hyundai Elantra reliable?

The 2024 Hyundai Elantra is presented as a well-constructed compact sedan with a broad range of trims and powertrains, which supports its reputation for everyday dependability. The test-drive summary also says it is well-mannered and capable of being both comfortable and economical, which is a good sign for routine use.

Its standard 2.0-litre four-cylinder is paired with a CVT in the mainstream trims, while the lineup also includes a turbocharged option and a hybrid, giving you flexibility depending on how you drive. The ownership picture is helped by a five-year/100,000-kilometre new vehicle warranty.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is choosing a version that does not match your needs, especially if you expect strong acceleration or a more premium-feeling cabin from the base trims.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Hyundai Elantra?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Essential, Preferred, and Luxury trims lose the sporty bumpers that complement the body, so the car looks cheaper without the N Line Ultimate treatment. The base Essential is described as particularly good inside with grey cloth, while the cabin overall is still very plastic-heavy.
• Powertrain: The common 2.0-litre inline-four makes 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque with a CVT. It is adequate around town, but it is very weak and loud on highways. The N Line’s 1.6-litre turbo-four with 201 hp and 195 lb-ft is the stronger upgrade, while the Elantra N is the most powerful option.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward braking assist, lane keep assist and lane departure warning, lane following assist, automatic high beams, and a driver attention monitor. From the Preferred grade, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit assist are added. Luxury trims up to N Line include forward collision avoidance with pedestrian and cyclist detection, junction turning assist, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, and highway driving assist.
• Infotainment: The Essential and Preferred trims get an 8-inch touchscreen, while the Luxury trim and above get a 10.25-inch screen. The smaller system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the larger one does not. A digital instrument panel is standard from Luxury up.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine is rated at 7.7 L/100 km city, 5.9 highway, and 6.9 combined. The N Line Ultimate is rated at 8.3/6.8/7.6, while the hybrid is rated at 4.8 city, 4.5 highway, and 4.7 combined.

Which 2024 Hyundai Elantra trim should I buy?

The 2024 Hyundai Elantra is offered in 5 trim levels: Essential, Preferred, Luxury, N Line Ultimate, and N.

Here's the short version:

• Essential: This is the entry point, but it is best if you mainly want the lowest-cost way into the Elantra lineup and can live with the weaker base engine and simpler equipment.
• Preferred: This is the trim that adds important safety upgrades like blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit assist, making it the best-value choice for many shoppers.
• Luxury: This is the better pick if you want the larger 10.25-inch touchscreen, digital instrument panel, Bose audio, wireless charging, and Highway Driving Assist.
• N Line Ultimate: This is the one to choose if you want the strongest mix of style, performance, and everyday comfort, with the turbocharged engine and firmer, more engaging chassis tuning.
• N: This is the performance-focused choice if you want the most powerful and most entertaining Elantra, but it comes with trade-offs in ride comfort and refinement.

The safety package expands as you move up the range, so it is worth checking exactly which driver-assistance features are included on the used example you are considering.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Hyundai Elantra?

The market looks moderately favourable if you are a selective buyer and willing to compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 995 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.87% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $22,416 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Hyundai Elantra's resale value?

The current average of $22,416 CAD sits slightly below last year's $24,871 CAD.

That softer pricing suggests the Elantra is currently more buyer-friendly than seller-friendly. If you own one and plan to sell soon, you may need to price competitively to stand out.

For future sellers, the current trend is a reminder that compact-sedan values can move quickly when supply is healthy. A well-equipped trim with the right features should hold up better than a bare-bones example, especially if it is priced near the lower end of the market.

Is the 2024 Hyundai Elantra safe?

The 2024 Elantra received a five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and was named a Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features on the 2024 Hyundai Elantra in Canada include a simple forward braking assist system, lane keep assist and lane departure warning, lane following assist, automatic high beams, and a driver attention monitor. From the Preferred grade, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit assist are added. Luxury trims up to N Line include forward collision avoidance with pedestrian and cyclist detection as well as junction turning assist, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, and highway driving assist.

There are some caveats to keep in mind. The IIHS result came with the note that not all standard crash tests were performed, and the new frontal crash test scored worse than the 2021 Elantra. Rear passengers also had a higher risk of injury despite the addition of two rear side airbags for 2024, and there are no frontal knee airbags.

Should I buy a 2024 Hyundai Elantra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.87% compared with last year.
• The 2024 refresh adds more style and standard equipment, while the car remains sporty, well-constructed, and versatile.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $20,747 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $22,416 CAD average.
• It is roomy, safe, efficient, and technologically advanced.

The bottom line: If you want the newer refresh and are shopping for a well-equipped compact sedan, the 2024 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is saving money and you still want the Elantra’s broad mix of efficiency, safety, and features, the 2023 is the value play.
