How much does the 2024 Hyundai Elantra cost?

There are 889 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Hyundai Elantra a good car?

The 2024 Hyundai Elantra is a strong fit if you want a compact sedan that balances style, versatility, and everyday usability, though its appeal depends on whether you can live with its more polarising edges. It earns 3/5 from users and 7.33/10 from our experts.

The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Form and function, and Cost effectiveness.

It stands out for offering multiple powertrain options, a manual transmission, and a refresh that adds more style and standard equipment. The trade-offs are that the styling may not suit everyone, the base engine is underwhelming, and the interior materials can feel cheap.

With 35.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive opportunities.

Is the 2024 Hyundai Elantra reliable?

The 2024 Hyundai Elantra is positioned as a well-sorted compact sedan that has moved well beyond Hyundai’s old bargain-basement image. Its expert assessment highlights a car that is comfortable, economical, and genuinely engaging to drive, with a five-year/100,000-kilometre new vehicle warranty included.

The performance notes point to a broad range of powertrains, from the efficient base setup to the more energetic turbocharged and performance-oriented versions. That variety gives you flexibility, but it also means you should pay close attention to which drivetrain you’re buying and whether it suits your needs.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is choosing a version whose character or complexity does not match how you plan to drive it.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Hyundai Elantra?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Essential, Preferred, and Luxury trims lose the sportier bumpers that help the car look more distinctive, while the base cabin is described as particularly good in grey cloth. If you want the most polished presentation, the higher trims add more equipment and a more complete look.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.0-litre inline-four with the CVT is adequate around town but very weak and loud on the highway. The 1.6-litre turbo-four in the N Line is much livelier, while the Elantra N is the most powerful and most aggressive option.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward braking assist, lane keep assist and lane departure warning, lane following assist, automatic high beams, and a driver attention monitor. From the Preferred grade, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit assist are added. Luxury trims up to N Line include forward collision avoidance with pedestrian and cyclist detection, junction turning assist, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, and highway driving assist.
• Infotainment: The Essential and Preferred use an 8-inch touchscreen, while the Luxury trim and above get a 10.25-inch display. The smaller screen supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the larger one does not. A digital instrument panel is standard from Luxury up.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine is rated at 7.7 L/100 km city, 5.9 highway, and 6.9 combined. The N Line Ultimate is rated at 8.3/6.8/7.6 L/100 km, while the hybrid is rated at 4.8 city, 4.5 highway, and 4.7 combined.

Which 2024 Hyundai Elantra trim should I buy?

The 2024 Hyundai Elantra is offered in 5 trim levels: Essential, Preferred, Luxury, N Line Ultimate, and N.

Here's the short version:

• Essential: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and the core Elantra experience. It gives you the standard safety basics and the 8-inch touchscreen, but it is also the trim most likely to feel stripped back compared with the higher grades.
• Preferred: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit assist without jumping all the way to the pricier luxury-focused trims.
• Luxury: This is the trim to target if you want the most complete everyday package. It adds the larger 10.25-inch screen, digital instrumentation, Bose audio, wireless charging, Highway Driving Assist, and more advanced driver assistance features.
• N Line Ultimate: Choose this if you want the most engaging non-N version. It brings the turbocharged 1.6-litre engine, quicker-shifting dual-clutch transmission, and a more athletic character, while still keeping the car usable day to day.
• N: This is the performance-focused choice for buyers who want the most power and the most serious driving experience. It is the most specialised version, so it makes the most sense if excitement matters more than comfort or simplicity.

Luxury trims up to N Line include the more advanced safety package, while the Elantra N drops some features depending on transmission choice.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Hyundai Elantra?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory and pricing movement to reward careful shopping.

• Deal availability: 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 889 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.74% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $22,707 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Hyundai Elantra's resale value?

The current average of $22,708 CAD sits slightly below last year's $26,024 CAD.

That price drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today. For a future seller, it means you should expect more modest resale strength unless demand tightens again.

If you buy at the current average, you may have less room for appreciation later, so condition and trim choice will matter more at resale. Higher-equipped versions may hold broader appeal, but the overall trend still points to softer values than a year ago.

Is the 2024 Hyundai Elantra safe?

The 2024 Elantra received a five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), with four stars for the front passenger, five for the driver, and five for front and rear passengers in two side tests. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) named the 2024 Elantra a Top Safety Pick.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include forward braking assist, lane keep assist and lane departure warning, lane following assist, automatic high beams, and a driver attention monitor.

There are some caveats to keep in mind: IIHS noted that not all of its standard crash tests were performed, and its new frontal crash test showed worse results than the 2021 Elantra. Rear passengers also had a higher risk of injury despite the addition of two rear side airbags for 2024, and there are no frontal knee airbags.

Should I buy a 2024 Hyundai Elantra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.74% compared with last year.
• The refresh adds more style and standard equipment while keeping the Elantra’s broad trim and powertrain range.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $21,018 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $22,708 CAD average.
• It offers a wide range of personalities in one compact sedan.

The bottom line: Choose the 2024 if you want the updated styling and added equipment, especially if you value the broader choice of trims and powertrains. If your priority is saving money, the 2023 is the smarter value play, especially if you can find one in good condition with the features you want.
