Used 2024 Hyundai Elantra for Sale nearHalifax, NS

How much does the 2024 Hyundai Elantra cost?

Prices have softened 10.74% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 973 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2024 Hyundai Elantra a good car?

It’s a mixed but appealing compact sedan if you want style, variety, and value, with a user rating of 3/5 and an expert rating of 7.3/10.

The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Form and function, and Cost effectiveness.

The Elantra is presented as a sporty-looking, versatile sedan that has moved well beyond Hyundai’s old bargain-basement image. It offers multiple powertrain options and a manual transmission available, and the 2024 refresh adds more style and standard equipment. The trade-offs are clear: the design may be polarising, the base engine is underwhelming, and the interior materials can feel cheap.

For shoppers who want a compact sedan that feels more distinctive than merely practical, the Elantra’s broad trim spread and strong value case make sense. There are 34.7% good or great deals in the market, which supports its appeal if you’re shopping carefully.

Is the 2024 Hyundai Elantra reliable?

The 2024 Hyundai Elantra is described as a well-mannered sedan that can be comfortable and economical while still being sporty and entertaining.

Its performance story is mixed by trim: the common 2.0-litre four-cylinder is adequate around town but weak and loud on highways, while the turbocharged versions add much more personality and pace. The expert summary also says the car is now genuinely sporty and well-constructed, which points to a stronger overall package than Hyundai’s older small-car efforts.

On the cost side, every Elantra comes with a five-year/100,000-kilometre new vehicle warranty, which helps reduce early ownership risk. For used buyers, the main long-term concern is choosing the right trim, since the base setup is less satisfying than the stronger powertrains.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 Hyundai Elantra?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Essential, Preferred, and Luxury trims lose the sportier bumpers that complement the body, so the car looks cheaper without the N Line Ultimate treatment. The base Essential is also described as particularly good inside, while the cabin overall can feel plasticky.
• Powertrain: The standard 2.0-litre inline-four makes 147 horsepower and 132 pound-feet of torque with a CVT, and it is only adequate in low-speed driving. The turbocharged options add much more character, with the N Line’s 1.6-litre turbo-four and the Elantra N’s much stronger performance standing out.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward braking assist, lane keep assist and lane departure warning, lane following assist, automatic high beams, and a driver attention monitor. From the Preferred grade, blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit assist are added. Luxury trims up to N Line include forward collision avoidance with pedestrian and cyclist detection, junction turning assist, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, and highway driving assist.
• Infotainment: The Essential and Preferred trims get an 8-inch touchscreen, while the Luxury trim and above use a 10.25-inch screen. The smaller system supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while the larger one does not; the larger setup also brings a digital instrument panel from Luxury up.
• Fuel efficiency: The base engine is rated at 7.7 L/100 km city, 5.9 highway, and 6.9 combined, while the N Line Ultimate is rated at 8.3/6.8/7.6.

Which 2024 Hyundai Elantra trim should I buy?

The 2024 Hyundai Elantra is offered in 5 trim levels: Essential, Preferred, Luxury, N Line Ultimate, and N.

Here's the short version:

• Essential: This is the entry point, but it’s mainly for shoppers focused on price rather than polish. You get the core Elantra experience, though the base engine is the weakest part of the lineup and the cabin is the least upscale.
• Preferred: This is the best-value trim for many buyers because it adds important safety equipment like blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit assist without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• Luxury: This is the trim to target if you want the most rounded everyday package. It adds the 10.25-inch touchscreen, digital instrument panel, Bose audio, wireless charging, and Highway Driving Assist.
• N Line Ultimate: Choose this if you want the sportier personality and stronger turbocharged powertrain. It’s the most characterful non-performance trim, but it comes with a higher price and a firmer, more specialised setup.
• N: This is the enthusiast choice, with the most serious performance hardware and the most aggressive character. It suits you only if you want the sharpest driving experience and can live with the compromises that come with it.

The safety package expands meaningfully as you move up the range, so higher trims are worth considering if driver-assistance features matter to you.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Hyundai Elantra?

This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can be selective without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 973 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.74% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $22,558 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Hyundai Elantra's resale value?

The current average of $22,577 CAD sits slightly below last year's $25,295 CAD.

That drop suggests the market has softened, which can help you as a buyer today. For a future seller, it means the Elantra is currently carrying more depreciation pressure than it was a year ago.

If you buy at the right price and keep the car in strong condition, you can help protect your resale position later. The biggest risk is overpaying now and then facing a weaker market when you decide to sell.

Is the 2024 Hyundai Elantra safe?

The 2024 Elantra received a five-star overall safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), with four-star ratings for the front passenger and five-star ratings for the driver and for front and rear passengers in two side tests. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) named it a Top Safety Pick.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include forward braking assist, lane keep assist and lane departure warning, lane following assist, automatic high beams, and a driver attention monitor.

There are some caveats to keep in mind: IIHS did not perform all of its standard crash tests, and its newer frontal crash test showed worse results than the 2021 Elantra. Rear passengers also had a higher risk of injury despite added rear side airbags, and there are no frontal knee airbags.

Should I buy a 2024 Hyundai Elantra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 34.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 10.74% compared with last year.
• The 2024 refresh adds more style and standard equipment, while the car remains a sporty, well-constructed compact sedan.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $20,885 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $22,577 CAD average.
• It offers a wide spread of choices in one compact sedan.

The bottom line: If you want the newer refresh and are shopping for a well-equipped compact sedan, the 2024 is the better target. If your priority is saving money and you’re comfortable giving up the latest updates, the 2023 is the more budget-friendly path.
