- Owners rate the Toyota Camry between 4.4 and 5.0 out of 5 stars across all model years in the data.
For used buyers, that points to a model with generally low long-term ownership risk, especially if you choose a well-maintained example with a clean service history.
What should I look for when buying a used Toyota Camry?
Key things to evaluate:
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 (TSS 3.0) is standard on every 2026 Camry and includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane centring assist, road sign assist, and high beam assist. Blind spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit warning are also standard.
- Infotainment: Toyota equips the more affordable Camry models, including our Nightshade test car, with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It features wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM with a three-month trial, and four connected services plans, three of which come with complimentary subscriptions that vary in length.
- Fuel efficiency: Fuel economy ranges from 5.0 to 5.5 litres per 100 kilometres in combined city and highway driving, depending on the trim level and drivetrain configuration.
Which Toyota Camry trim should I buy?
The 2026 Toyota Camry offers these trims:
- SE FWD: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Camry’s hybrid powertrain in a straightforward package. It suits buyers who want the Camry’s core efficiency and everyday usability at the lowest price.
- SE Upgrade AWD: This trim adds more equipment and all-wheel drive, making it the best-value choice for many shoppers who want extra traction and a richer feature set without moving to the top end.
- XLE AWD: This trim adds the more upscale equipment and the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, along with Drive Connect availability and a more premium feel.
- XSE AWD: This trim adds the sport-tuned suspension and the more expressive character of the upper range, while also pairing with the larger touchscreen and higher-end equipment.
What Toyota Camry do most buyers choose?
The Toyota Camry years with the most listings are 2025, 2024, and 2023.
| Model Year | Total Listings | Good + Great Deals % |
|---|---|---|
| 2025 | 227 | 32.2% |

| 2019 | 137 | 24.1% |

These higher-volume years tend to be popular because they sit close to the newest redesigns while still offering used-car pricing. They also give you a wider selection of trims and deal opportunities, which makes it easier to find the right Camry for your budget.

- Tech: Toyota equips the more affordable Camry models with an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an available 12.3-inch touchscreen that adds cloud-based navigation, destination assistance, and an Intelligent Assistant conversational voice recognition system.
- Safety: Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 is standard on every 2026 Camry and includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, lane centring assist, road sign assist, and high beam assist.
- Starting price: For the 2026 model year, the Camry is offered in Canada in four trim levels, with prices ranging from $36,935 CAD to $47,690 CAD.

Reviewed a 2021 Toyota SE FWD on Apr 3, 2026
I absolutely love my 2021 Toyota Camry. From the moment I got it, I honestly fell in love with it. The car looks sporty and modern, but at the same time it’s very comfortable and smooth to drive. It feels reliable and safe, which gives me a lot of confidence, especially as someone still getting used to driving more often. The fuel efficiency is great, and the interior is clean and well-designed. Everything feels solid and easy to use. It’s definitely a great value for the price. If I had to mention something, I wish it had push-button start, but overall I’m extremely happy with my purchase. I would definitely recommend this car to anyone looking for something reliable, stylish, and comfortable.

A lot of people looking at a certain car for the lowest price end up getting the oldest/first year of a cars generation. Thats because its typically the least expensive year of that particular body style they are looking for. As someone whos sold many cars in the last decade I can assure you, that is typically a big mistake. They often have problems that automakers cant know about until thousands of people have driven them for tens of thousands of miles, or more. I wanted the most reliable car possible. Easy, right? Just buy a Toyota... right? No. Ive seen it with Toyota as well. Many times. So I purposely sought the most recent model year of a generation of cars that are widely considered the most reliable ever made. A 2017 Camry (non-hybrid), if treated well, can be counted on being driven for over 1 million miles without an engine rebuild. They are an engineering marvel of our time. The 2.5l 2AR-FE has to be the most bulletproof example of a gasoline engine to ever sit under a hood. The car itself is well designed and is a flawless performer in normal daily driving. The SE/XSEs in particular have a suspension that can take a quickly-turned corner without skipping a beat. The seats are very comfortable over long drives, but supportive when youre in the curves. It has large windows to avoid blind spots and has airbags in every direction. The crash tests show that its extraordinarily safe if the unthinkable occurs. Its simply a brilliant choice of car. And getting back to my first sentences, the 2017 model had it all nailed down after 6 years of getting closer and closer to perfection. Toyota could have gotten away with not redesigning it for several more years. Easily. However, being the most popular car in the United States is a challenge that requires not letting the customers get bored. So I suppose Ill forgive Toyota for not making the car longer. That said, any one of the years of the seventh generation Camry is a great car to own. But this last year is perfection. Its why I have one. Im proud & grateful to be the owner of a 2017 Camry SE. Ill likely drive it until the car or myself dies. Dont ask me which one will kick the bucket first though, because Im 42 and this engineering marvel of the auto world is only 7. Dont pass up a well treated one.

I absolutely love the features of my car. The push start, sunroof, heated seats, heated steering wheel, and Apple CarPlay are all fantastic. For the value, the car is a great choice. Being a Toyota, its built to last and is also very fuel-efficient. Both the exterior and interior are incredibly clean, which adds to its appeal. That said, there are a couple of things I wish were different. I’d love if the car had memory seats, and the display screen could be a bit more modern, especially compared to the ones in the Toyota Highlanders. Another small inconvenience is that, unlike the Highlanders where Apple CarPlay connects wirelessly through Bluetooth, my car requires the phone to be plugged in for CarPlay to work. While this isnt a huge issue, it would be more convenient if it were wireless like in the Highlanders. Overall, it’s a really cute car and an amazing choice for a first car. Im really happy with it!

Why it stands out
The 2019 Toyota Camry stands out because it marks the model’s move into a more upscale, more expressive era while still keeping the practical character that has long defined it. It is described as a well-built, reliable car that is unlikely to let you down, and it also brings a sportier look than before, with a lower roofline, a fastback-style sloping rear window, and a short trunk lid. Even the entry-level version is generously equipped, with heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, heated side mirrors, LED headlights, dual-zone automatic climate control, push button start, SofTex faux leather interior trim, a sport-tuned suspension, and an eight-inch infotainment touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration.
Mechanically, the 2019 Toyota Camry is distinctive for being hybrid-only in this generation. In Canada, all-wheel drive is standard on all models but the base trim, and the hybrid powertrain combines a four-cylinder 2.5-litre engine with an electric motor for 232 horsepower. It also returns a Natural Resources Canada combined figure of 4.9 to 5.3 litres per 100 kilometres depending on trim, which helps explain its appeal to buyers who want a midsize sedan that is both efficient and well equipped. Standard safety equipment is another strength, with Toyota Safety Sense, radar cruise control, lane departure alert, emergency braking with pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, and a blind spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert all included.
There are a few trade-offs, though. The Camry’s reputation is built more on sensible, dependable transportation than on excitement, and it is still too early to predict long-term reliability for this generation. Even so, the 2019 Toyota Camry should appeal strongly to shoppers who want a comfortable, efficient, and feature-rich sedan with a polished feel and a strong safety package.
