CarGurus Analysis: 2024 Honda HR-V
Summary
With 157 currently listed for sale and an average price of $28,589 CAD, 27.4% of 2024 Honda HR-V listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 Honda HR-V 4.67 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2024 Honda HR-V stands out as a practical small crossover that leans into comfort, everyday usability, and value. It has a more refined and modern look inside and out, a larger body, and improved handling over the first-generation model thanks to its Civic-based mechanical underpinnings. The cabin uses higher quality materials than before, and the ride comfort is very good, which helps make it appealing for commuting and general family use.
It also brings a useful mix of standard equipment and flexibility. The updated infotainment system includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto across the range, while Honda Sensing bundles more advanced safety features, including adaptive cruise control with a low-speed follow function. Cargo space is generous at 691 litres behind the rear seats and 1,559 litres with them folded, although this generation loses the Magic Seat system that made the earlier HR-V especially versatile. Buyers should also note that the 2.0-litre engine’s 158 horsepower is not especially strong, and it needs to be worked hard at higher speeds, so the HR-V’s strengths are more about refinement and practicality than brisk performance.

How much does the 2024 Honda HR-V cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $29,535 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $29,531 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $33,050 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $33,050 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −10.63% |
Prices have softened 10.63% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 366 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory for shoppers comparing options.
Is the 2024 Honda HR-V a good car?
Yes — the 2024 Honda HR-V earns a 4.67/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its comfort, smooth ride, and impressive features for the price, and many also like its stylish design and fuel efficiency. It fits well if you want a practical small crossover for commuting and general family use, especially if refinement and everyday usability matter more than quick acceleration. With 34.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, you also have a decent chance of finding a competitive offer.
Is the 2024 Honda HR-V reliable?
Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience centred on comfort, smooth operation, and strong value. That kind of response usually suggests you can count on it for regular use without much drama. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about reliability and more about whether the modest powertrain will meet your expectations over time.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Honda HR-V?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 366 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.63% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $29,531 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Honda HR-V's resale value?
The current average of $29,535 CAD sits slightly below last year's $33,050 CAD.
That price movement suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more affordably now but may also limit near-term upside if you plan to resell soon. If you purchase at a strong price, you may have a better chance of protecting your equity later. The HR-V’s practical appeal and broad shopper interest should help support demand, even if current pricing is softer than it was a year ago.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2024 Honda HR-V or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.63% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $27,864 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $29,535 CAD average.
- It offers a fresh redesign with a more modern look and a stronger feature set.
The bottom line:
Choose the 2024 if you want the stronger current-market mix of pricing, owner satisfaction, and shopping flexibility. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2023 is the better value path and still gives you the redesigned HR-V experience.
