CarGurus Analysis: 2024 Honda CR-V
Summary
With 185 currently listed for sale and an average price of $34,156 CAD, 33.0% of 2024 Honda CR-V listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 Honda CR-V 3.8 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2024 Honda CR-V stands out because it combines the CR-V’s long-running reputation for practicality with a more polished, more distinctive modern design. Honda comprehensively redesigned it for 2023, giving it a more handsome shape and a bigger interior, while keeping the model’s emphasis on efficiency and everyday usability. It remains a five-passenger compact crossover with the roomy cabin and cargo area that have long been part of the CR-V’s appeal, and it continues to be known for reliability, safety, and economy.
For 2024, the CR-V’s standard safety equipment includes adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, and traffic sign recognition, and it earned a Top Safety Pick designation from IIHS in 2024. The infotainment system is described as basic, but top trims get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and the CR-V is still easy to learn to operate. The hybrid version is especially notable, with a drivetrain rated at 204 system horsepower and 247 pound-feet of torque and capable of burning as little as 6.4 litres per 100 kilometres combined, while the gas-powered version uses a 190-horsepower 1.5-litre four-cylinder turbo engine.
As a used buy, the 2024 Honda CR-V is appealing because it is still very new and offers a lot of equipment, but it is not the cheapest compact SUV on the market. The source notes that Canadian pricing for new CR-Vs is among the highest in the segment, and that used examples can still be expensive, especially hybrids. It is also not the most spirited driver or the most distinctive in style, so buyers prioritising excitement may want to look elsewhere, but those wanting a practical, well-equipped, and highly regarded crossover will find plenty to like.

Nice smooth drivetrain and comfortable ride. Roomy. LX trim has good basics. Some things I felt were missing: - Stiff suspension - can strongly feel potholes and bumps on the road - No wireless CarPlay/Android auto - need a cable pipe in the phone - Just one USB charging port - seems low even for a modern base model. No ports for back seats at all, not even a rear 12V. - No blindspot alert system - feels somewhat scary if you're coming from a car that had one.

Everything was great but the price. They wanted way too much for a car that has one accident.

Is the 2024 Honda CR-V a good car?
With a 3.8/5 user rating, the 2024 Honda CR-V looks like a practical, well-rounded choice rather than an especially exciting one. It combines a roomy cabin and cargo area with a more polished modern design, and it stays focused on efficiency and everyday usability. If you want a five-passenger compact crossover that is easy to live with, easy to learn, and well equipped, it fits that brief well. 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2024 Honda CR-V reliable?
The 2024 Honda CR-V stands out because it continues the model’s long-running reputation for practicality, reliability, safety, and economy. It also comes with standard adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, and traffic sign recognition, and it earned a Top Safety Pick designation from IIHS in 2024. The overall package is aimed at low-drama daily use, with a roomy cabin and straightforward operation.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is paying a premium for a vehicle that is still very new, especially if you are shopping for a hybrid.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Honda CR-V?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market: there is enough inventory to shop around, but the best examples still deserve quick attention.
- Deal availability: 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 943 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.74% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $34,049 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Honda CR-V's resale value?
The current average of $34,049 CAD sits slightly below last year's $38,145 CAD.
That price movement suggests the 2024 CR-V has already absorbed some early depreciation, which can help if you buy now and sell later. Because the model is still very new and remains in demand for its practicality, resale should stay relatively supported compared with less established compact SUVs. Even so, the current softness means future sellers may need to price competitively if the market stays well supplied.
Should I buy a 2024 Honda CR-V or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 29.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 10.74% compared with last year.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $32,295 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $34,049 CAD average.
- It offers a roomy cabin with a strong comfort-and-space balance.
The bottom line: The 2024 is the better pick if you want the newer design, updated equipment, and a still-fresh used example. If your priority is saving money, the 2023 is the smarter value play, especially if you can find one with the features you want at a lower asking price.
