CarGurus Analysis: 2024 Honda CR-V
Summary
With 362 currently listed for sale and an average price of $35,268 CAD, 17.4% of 2024 Honda CR-V listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2024 Honda CR-V 3.75 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2024 Honda CR-V stands out because it combines the model’s long-running strengths with a more polished, more distinctive modern shape. Honda comprehensively redesigned it for 2023, giving it a more handsome exterior and a bigger interior, while keeping the CR-V’s reputation for comfort, practicality, reliability, and value intact. It remains a five-passenger compact crossover with a roomy cabin and cargo area, and it is still easy to learn to operate.
For 2024, the CR-V continues to lean into safety and everyday usability. Standard equipment includes adaptive cruise control, traffic jam assist, and traffic sign recognition, and the model earned a “Top Safety Pick” designation from IIHS in 2024. The infotainment system is basic, but top trims get wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Buyers also get a choice of gas or hybrid power, with the hybrid version offering 204 system horsepower, 247 pound-feet of torque, and fuel consumption as low as 6.4 litres per 100 kilometres combined.
There are trade-offs, though. The 2024 Honda CR-V is not the most spirited driver, and it is not especially distinctive in style compared with some rivals. It is also among the pricier compact SUVs in Canada, even though used examples can still represent a meaningful saving over new. For shoppers who value space, safety, efficiency, and a well-earned reputation for durability, it remains an appealing choice.

Nice smooth drivetrain and comfortable ride. Roomy. LX trim has good basics. Some things I felt were missing: - Stiff suspension - can strongly feel potholes and bumps on the road - No wireless CarPlay/Android auto - need a cable pipe in the phone - Just one USB charging port - seems low even for a modern base model. No ports for back seats at all, not even a rear 12V. - No blindspot alert system - feels somewhat scary if you're coming from a car that had one.

How much does the 2024 Honda CR-V cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $34,704 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $34,704 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $39,148 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $39,152 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −11.36% |
Prices have softened 11.36% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 957 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2024 Honda CR-V a good car?
With a 3.75/5 user rating, the 2024 Honda CR-V looks like a solid choice if you want a compact crossover that prioritises comfort, practicality, reliability, and value over excitement. It gives you a roomy cabin and cargo area, is easy to learn to operate, and keeps the model’s long-running strengths intact after its recent redesign. For Canadian shoppers, its five-passenger layout and everyday usability make it especially appealing if you want a sensible family vehicle. The market also shows 28.7% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2024 Honda CR-V reliable?
The 2024 Honda CR-V builds on the model’s reputation for reliability and value, while also adding a more polished exterior and a bigger interior. It remains focused on comfort and practicality, and it is still easy to learn to operate, which supports its appeal as a dependable everyday vehicle. Standard safety equipment and a Top Safety Pick designation from IIHS in 2024 add to its confidence-inspiring character.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that you are still buying a relatively expensive compact SUV, so condition and maintenance history matter.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Honda CR-V?
This is a moderate buyer’s market, so you can be selective without expecting deep discounts everywhere.
- Deal availability: 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 957 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.36% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $34,704 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2024 Honda CR-V's resale value?
The current average of $34,704 CAD sits slightly below last year's $39,152 CAD.
That price movement suggests the 2024 CR-V has softened enough to improve your buying position today. If you sell later, the model’s strong reputation for practicality and reliability should help support demand. Even so, the current downward trend means future resale gains may be more modest than they were a year ago.
Should I buy a 2024 Honda CR-V or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2024 if:
- 28.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 11.36% compared with last year.
Consider the 2023 if:
- At $32,511 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $34,704 CAD average.
- It adds a useful infotainment and safety update.
The bottom line: The 2024 is the better pick if you want the newer model year and are shopping for a well-equipped, practical compact SUV with decent deal availability. If your priority is saving money, the 2023 is the smarter value play because it delivers much of the same core appeal for less.
