Used 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 for Sale nearNanaimo, BC

How much does the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 16.58% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,683 listings available, which suggests a healthy amount of inventory for used shoppers.

Is the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 a good car?

Yes — the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 earns a 4.6/5 user rating, and our experts give it 7.2/10 overall, with an 8.00/10 expert rating for technology. The model scores 8/10 across Performance, Form and function, and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its powerful engine, comfortable and spacious interior, and well-equipped features. The design and luxury touches also come up often as strengths, especially if you want a pickup that feels more upscale than purely utilitarian.

The trade-offs are that some owners mention infotainment reliability concerns and the need for a data plan, while our test-drive notes point to poor value for money and the fact that not all advanced safety features are standard. That makes it a better fit if you want a versatile full-size pickup that can serve as a work truck, off-roader, or long-distance cruiser, rather than if you’re shopping strictly on price. With 36.1% of listings marked as good or great deals, there’s still room to find a competitive example.

Is the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a truck that feels powerful, comfortable, and well equipped, which usually supports confidence in day-to-day ownership. It also suggests you can count on the Sierra 1500 for a spacious cabin and strong feature content.

At the same time, some owners raise concerns about infotainment reliability and emissions controls, so you should pay close attention to service history and how the truck’s tech behaves during a test drive. For used buyers, that means the biggest long-term risk is not the core truck hardware so much as the condition and consistency of the electronics and maintenance record.

What should I look for when buying a used 2024 GMC Sierra 1500?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup ranges from Pro to Denali Ultimate, with the base Pro aimed at commercial fleets and the higher trims adding more luxury and off-road focus. The Pro is the most basic-looking version, while Denali and Denali Ultimate bring the chrome-heavy upscale treatment and features like available 22-inch wheels and power running boards.
• Powertrain: You can find a 2.7-litre turbocharged four-cylinder, 5.3-litre V8, 6.2-litre V8, and Duramax 3.0-litre turbodiesel. The diesel stands out for strong torque and smooth, linear power delivery, while the V8s add more traditional truck muscle.
• Safety package: GMC’s standard suite includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and a rear-seat reminder. Adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, park assist, and the Safety Alert driver’s seat are optional, and Super Cruise is available on Denali and Denali Ultimate models.
• Infotainment: Base Pro models use a 7-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. SLE and higher trims get a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 13.4-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Google Built-In.
• Fuel efficiency: The Duramax diesel is rated at 9.2 L/100 km combined with RWD and 9.6 L/100 km combined with 4WD. The TurboMax four-cylinder can achieve 12 L/100 km combined in some configurations, while the two V8 engines land in the 14 to 16 L/100 km range.

Which 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 is offered in 8 trim levels: Pro, SLE, Elevation, SLT, AT4, AT4X, Denali, and Denali Ultimate.

Here's the short version:

• Pro: This is the work-focused starting point, and it makes the most sense if you want the Sierra’s basic capability without paying for luxury extras. It’s also the trim where the infotainment setup is the simplest, with a 7-inch touchscreen and wired smartphone connectivity.
• SLE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the larger 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, the 13.4-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Google Built-In. If you want the biggest jump in everyday usability, this is the one to target.
• Elevation: Choose this if you want a more distinctive look and a step up in equipment without jumping all the way to the luxury trims. It builds on the SLE’s tech foundation while moving the truck further upmarket.
• SLT: This is the better pick if you want a more premium-feeling daily driver and are willing to pay for it. It sits in the middle of the range and suits buyers who want comfort and capability in roughly equal measure.
• AT4: This is the trim to consider if you want the off-road character, with a 5-centimetre lift kit, Rancho monotube shocks, a locking rear differential, and skid plates. For 2024, the Duramax diesel is standard here, which makes it especially appealing if you want torque and efficiency together.
• AT4X: Pick this if you want the most serious off-road hardware in the lineup, including a front locker and Multimatic DSSV dampers. It’s the choice for buyers who want rugged capability first.
• Denali: This is the luxury-focused trim for shoppers who want the Sierra to feel more premium inside and out. It adds the signature chrome grille treatment and can be equipped with features like Super Cruise.
• Denali Ultimate: This is the top luxury choice, and it’s the one to buy if you want the most comfort and the richest feature set. It’s the trim that best matches the Sierra’s upscale ambitions.

Safety-package note: Super Cruise is available on Denali and Denali Ultimate models, while several other driver-assistance features remain optional rather than standard.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 GMC Sierra 1500?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, especially if you’re willing to compare listings carefully and move quickly on a strong example.

• Deal availability: 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,683 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.58% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $54,646 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $54,646 CAD sits slightly below last year's $65,506 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can be good news if you’re buying now but less favourable if you’re planning to sell soon. A softer used-price environment usually means future resale gains may be harder to realise unless your truck is especially well equipped or lightly used.

For sellers, the key is to recognise that the Sierra 1500 still has broad appeal because it can serve as a work truck, off-roader, or luxury cruiser. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 safe?

The 2024 Sierra 1500 Crew Cab received a Good score in the IIHS driver-side small overlap front crash test, but a Marginal score in the passenger-side version. It also earned Good scores in the original IIHS moderate overlap front and side crash tests, plus an Acceptable score in the updated side crash test. In NHTSA testing, crew cab models received five-star overall safety ratings and five-star side-crash ratings, along with four-star ratings in frontal crash and rollover testing.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard driver-assistance suite includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and a rear-seat reminder. Adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, park assist, and the Safety Alert driver’s seat are optional. Super Cruise is available on Denali and Denali Ultimate models, and it adds hands-free driving capability for long-distance use.

The main caveat is the uneven IIHS result, especially the passenger-side small overlap score and the updated side-crash result. That means you should not assume every version of the Sierra 1500 delivers the same level of crash performance, particularly if you’re comparing trims with different safety equipment.

Should I buy a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.58% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines multiple powertrain options, easy-to-use technology, and a fuel-efficient diesel engine.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $49,320 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $54,646 CAD average.
• It pushed Sierra luxury further with the new Denali Ultimate trim.

The bottom line: Choose the 2024 if you want the stronger market mix of value, inventory, and broad capability. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2023 is the better budget-conscious path, especially if you’re comfortable giving up some of the newer-year market positioning.
