• Deal availability: 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,645 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.39% compared with last year.

What is the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500's resale value?

The current average of $55,109 CAD sits slightly below last year's $66,710 CAD.

That price drop suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you own one, the strongest resale prospects will likely come from well-equipped trims and desirable powertrains, especially where demand remains broad. The diesel and higher-spec luxury versions should continue to attract attention from shoppers who want capability with comfort.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.64/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 safe?

The 2024 Sierra 1500 Crew Cab received a Good score in the driver-side small overlap front crash test, a Marginal score in the passenger-side version, Good scores in the original moderate overlap front and side crash tests, and an Acceptable score in the updated side crash test. Crew cab models also earned five-star overall safety ratings from NHTSA, with five-star side-crash protection and four-star ratings in rollover and frontal crash testing.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, lane-keep assist, lane-departure warning, and a rear-seat reminder. Adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and park assist are optional, and Super Cruise is available on Denali and Denali Ultimate models.

The main caveat is the uneven IIHS result, especially the passenger-side small overlap score and the updated side-crash result, which means you should not assume every version delivers the same level of protection.

Should I buy a 2024 GMC Sierra 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 36.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.39% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.64/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It offers broad trim choice, strong powertrain variety, and available Super Cruise.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $49,962 CAD, the 2023 costs less than the current year's $55,109 CAD average.
• It pushed Sierra luxury further with the new Denali Ultimate trim.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of current-market value, broad inventory, and the latest feature set, the 2024 is the stronger all-around pick. If your priority is spending less up front and you still want a highly equipped full-size pickup, the 2023 is the better budget-conscious alternative.
