CarGurus Analysis: 2023 Toyota Venza
overall

Summary
With 77 currently listed for sale and an average price of $39,707 CAD, 32.5% of 2023 Toyota Venza listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2023 Toyota Venza 5 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 6.33 / 10.
Why it stands out
The 2023 Toyota Venza stands out as a stylish, fuel-efficient midsize SUV alternative. Its sharp exterior design gives it a more upscale look than many rivals, and the luxury-leaning interior adds to that impression. It is also comfortable, which makes it appealing for buyers who want a relaxed daily driver with a more polished feel than the average family SUV.
Its biggest strength is the fuel-efficient hybrid powertrain, which helps it rank among the most economical vehicles in its class. That efficiency is a major draw for shoppers who want midsize-SUV practicality without the usual fuel penalty. The trade-off is that the 2023 Toyota Venza is held back by not much cargo space and middling performance, so it is better suited to buyers who value style, comfort, and efficiency over maximum utility or strong acceleration.

Reviewed a 2023 Toyota Venza on Mar 6, 2023
The Limited model is loaded with many luxury and safety features. The ride is excellent and the gas mileage outstanding. This feels more like a Lexus than a Toyota. I switched from a Highlander and the Venza has a more comfortable ride. I have taken 2 trios that were over 3 hrs each and I was less fatigued than when I drove the same routes in the Highlander. I am very happy with my purchase.

Is the 2023 Toyota Venza reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The 2023 Toyota Venza’s hybrid setup is described as seamless in everyday driving, with electric motors providing immediate response and the gasoline engine blending in smoothly. Its advanced safety features also function as they should, with no false alarms reported in testing.

Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The LE is the most basic version, while the XLE adds a larger touchscreen, roof rails, simulated leather upholstery, and some safety enhancements. The Limited adds the most equipment, including a surround-view camera system, a head-up display, and a digital rearview mirror.
- Powertrain: You get a 2.5-litre four-cylinder hybrid system with 219 horsepower, a CVT, and standard all-wheel drive. It is tuned for smooth, efficient driving rather than strong acceleration.
- Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure assist, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, and a traffic sign reader. The XLE adds front and rear parking proximity sensors and reverse automatic emergency braking, while the Limited adds a surround-view camera system, a head-up display, and a digital rearview mirror.
- Infotainment: The LE uses an 8-inch touchscreen, while the XLE and above get a 12.3-inch multimedia display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with a wireless charging pad, and the system supports over-the-air-style connected services through Drive Connect on XLE and Limited trims.
- Fuel efficiency: It is estimated to return 5.9 L/100 km in the city, 6.4 L/100 km on the highway, and 6.1 L/100 km combined.
Which 2023 Toyota Venza trim should I buy?
The 2023 Toyota Venza is offered in 3 trim levels: LE, XLE, Limited.
Here's the short version:
- LE: This is the entry point, but it still gives you the hybrid powertrain, standard all-wheel drive, wireless smartphone integration, and Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+. It makes sense if you want the Venza’s core efficiency and style at the lowest price.
- XLE: This is the best-value trim. It adds the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, roof rails, simulated leather upholstery, parking sensors, and reverse automatic emergency braking, making it the sweet spot for most shoppers.
- Limited: This is the most fully equipped version, adding a surround-view camera system, head-up display, digital rearview mirror, and premium audio. Choose it if you want the most convenience and tech.
All trims come with Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ as standard.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota Venza?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.
- Deal availability: 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 78 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.53% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $39,524 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2023 Toyota Venza's resale value?
The current average of $39,623 CAD sits slightly below last year's $42,389 CAD.
That softer pricing suggests the market has cooled a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also mean future resale gains are less likely to be dramatic. If you plan to sell later, the Venza’s value will depend heavily on how well it continues to stand out on efficiency and condition.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2023 Toyota Venza safe?
The 2023 Toyota Venza scored five out of five stars in overall and side crash protection from NHTSA, and four stars in frontal and rollover protection. The IIHS awarded it its highest score of "Good" across the board except for the new side impact test, where it was rated "Acceptable", and it also earned a Top Safety Pick designation.
It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.
Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ is standard on every trim and includes adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure assist, lane-keep assist, automatic high beams, and a traffic sign reader. Higher trims add parking sensors, reverse automatic emergency braking, a surround-view camera system, a head-up display, and a digital rearview mirror.
The main caveat is the IIHS side-impact result, which is not as strong as the rest of the Venza’s crash-test performance.
Should I buy a 2023 Toyota Venza or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2023 if:
- 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.53% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It combines sharp styling with a fuel-efficient hybrid powertrain and a more upscale interior.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $33,845 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $39,623 CAD average.
- It blends wagon-like proportions with crossover practicality.
The bottom line: Choose the 2023 if you want the more current market position and the same core strengths of style, efficiency, and comfort. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2022 is the better value path, especially if you can live with its older tech and similar overall mission.
