Should I buy a 2023 Subaru Ascent or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.96% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $30,780 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $33,848 CAD average.
• It adds a new Onyx Edition with blacked-out trim and water-resistant upholstery.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $37,438 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $33,848 CAD average.
• It keeps the same formula with standard all-wheel drive and strong safety appeal.

The bottom line: The 2023 is the best all-around choice if you want the refreshed design and a market that has already softened meaningfully. If your priority is saving money, the 2022 is the better value play. If you want the newer model year and do not mind paying more, the 2024 is a straightforward alternative.
