Is the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder earns a 4.67/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its stylish design, comfortable interior, and especially the second-row seating. The sound system also comes up often as a strength, and many reviewers like the vehicle’s good power and utility. On the practical side, it suits you well if you want a family-focused SUV that can handle commuting, road trips, and everyday hauling in one package.

The trade-offs are a high starting price, a shifter design that can be confusing, and ride quality that can be hard to balance. That said, the Pathfinder’s roomy cabin and usable third row make it a strong fit if you want a versatile midsize SUV with a more adventurous look.

From the expert side, the Pathfinder’s powertrain is described as smooth and quiet, which supports a low-stress ownership experience. The standard warranty coverage also helps with peace of mind in the early years.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about whether the vehicle’s quirks and feature mix still suit your needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Nissan Pathfinder?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The S trim gives you the essentials, including AWD, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, cloth upholstery, and an 8-inch touchscreen. Higher trims add convenience and comfort features such as a panoramic moonroof, a motion-activated power liftgate, leather seats, a wireless charging pad, a head-up display, and second-row captain’s chairs. The Rock Creek stands out with its rugged styling, water-repellent interior, and off-road-focused hardware.
• Powertrain: You get a 3.5-litre V6 with a nine-speed automatic transmission and standard AWD. The Rock Creek uses the same engine but with higher output, plus off-road shocks and all-terrain tires. The standard setup is smooth and quiet, while the Rock Creek trades some on-road comfort for extra trail capability.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, forward and reverse collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, lane-departure warning, rear parking sensors, driver-attention monitoring, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and ProPilot Assist with lane centring and adaptive cruise control. The SV adds front parking sensors and a 360-degree parking monitor, while the SL adds traffic-sign recognition and navigation-linked ProPilot Assist.
• Infotainment: The base system uses an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The SL, SL Premium, and Platinum upgrade to a 9-inch screen. You also get Bluetooth, satellite radio, voice recognition, a Wi-Fi hotspot, and multiple USB ports.
• Fuel efficiency: The Pathfinder returns 11.6 L/100 km in city driving, 9.2 on the highway, and 10.5 combined. The Rock Creek is rated at 11.9 L/100 km city, 10.0 highway, and 11.1 combined.

Which 2023 Nissan Pathfinder trim should I buy?

The 2023 Nissan Pathfinder is offered in 6 trim levels: S, SV, Rock Creek, SL, SL Premium, and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the value starting point if you want the Pathfinder’s core strengths without stretching your budget. You still get AWD, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, tri-zone climate control, and the standard safety and infotainment setup.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a panoramic moonroof, a motion-activated power liftgate, a surround-view monitor, LED fog lamps, and a tow hitch receiver. It gives you a noticeable step up in convenience without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• Rock Creek: Choose this if you want the most rugged-looking Pathfinder and plan to use its off-road tuning, all-terrain tires, heavy-duty roof rack, and water-repellent interior. It also adds extra towing capability and a more distinctive cabin treatment.
• SL: This is the trim to target if you want a more premium daily driver. It adds leather seats, a 10-way power passenger seat, wireless charging, ProPilot Assist with navigation integration, and traffic-sign recognition.
• SL Premium: This trim is for you if audio and cabin tech matter more. The 20-inch wheels, head-up display, and Bose 12-speaker system make it feel more upscale.
• Platinum: Pick this if you want the most comfort and the most complete feature set. It adds second-row captain’s chairs, ventilated front seats, a digital instrument cluster, and rain-sensing wipers.

The safety package is strong across the lineup, but the SV, SL, SL Premium, and Platinum each add useful extras that make them easier to live with.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Nissan Pathfinder?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully and move quickly on well-priced examples.

• Deal availability: 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 474 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.04% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $38,108 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Nissan Pathfinder's resale value?

The current average of $38,108 CAD sits slightly below last year's $42,839 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can make the Pathfinder easier to buy now but a little softer for future sellers. If you own one, you may not see the same short-term pricing strength that it had a year ago. Still, the model’s broad appeal as a family SUV helps support demand, especially for well-equipped trims with strong feature content.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Standard driver-assistance features include forward and reverse automatic emergency braking, forward and reverse collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, lane-departure warning, rear parking sensors, driver-attention monitoring, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and ProPilot Assist with lane centring and adaptive cruise control. The SV adds front parking sensors and a 360-degree parking monitor, while the SL adds traffic-sign recognition and navigation-linked ProPilot Assist.

Should I buy a 2023 Nissan Pathfinder or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.04% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 adds the Rock Creek edition, giving you a more rugged option in the lineup.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $33,623 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $38,108 CAD average.
• It offers a rugged-looking body style with thoughtful features and strong safety tech.

The bottom line: If you want the newer year with the Rock Creek addition and a softer market, the 2023 is the better all-around pick. If your priority is saving money and you’re happy with a similar overall package, the 2022 is the smarter price-sensitive choice.
