How much does the 2023 Nissan Altima cost?

Prices have softened 14.96% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 96 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Nissan Altima a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Nissan Altima earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its fuel economy, responsive driving experience, and quality audio system. It also fits well if you want a practical family sedan with standard all-wheel drive and straightforward technology.

The trade-offs are that performance is fairly pedestrian and the interior materials feel cheap. It is best suited to you if you value comfort, easy-to-use features, and everyday practicality over excitement or upscale finishes.

With 36.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful value in the market.

Is the 2023 Nissan Altima reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with praise for its cost-effective fuel use and the sense that it is easy to live with over time. The CVT is described as a good one, and the car’s standard equipment helps it feel like a sensible long-term choice.

The first scheduled maintenance visit is on the house.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a well-used example may show the Altima’s weaker points more clearly, especially if maintenance has been inconsistent.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Nissan Altima?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Altima continues with four trims for 2023: S, SR trim, SR Premium, and Platinum. The higher trims get 19-inch wheel designs, while the base setup is more straightforward and the cabin still shows plenty of hard plastic.
• Powertrain: Every Canadian Altima uses a 2.5-litre four-cylinder engine with a CVT and standard AWD. The engine makes 182 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque, and the CVT is tuned to feel more like a traditional automatic.
• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a driver monitoring system, rear-seat reminder, Easy Fill Tire Alert, rear automatic braking, and automatic high-beam headlights. ProPilot Assist is included with SR Premium and Platinum and adds adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and lane-centring assist.
• Infotainment: The standard setup is an 8-inch touchscreen with Bluetooth, wired Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto, and SiriusXM satellite radio with 360L. SR Premium and Platinum get a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay, wired Android Auto, navigation, and wireless smartphone charging.
• Fuel efficiency: Official Natural Resources Canada fuel economy ratings are 9.1 L/100 km city, 6.5 L/100 km highway, and 7.9 L/100 km combined in the base trim, or 9.3 L/100 km city, 6.7 L/100 km highway, and 8.1 L/100 km combined for the SR, SR Premium, and Platinum.

Which 2023 Nissan Altima trim should I buy?

The 2023 Nissan Altima is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SR trim, SR Premium, and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the value play if you want the Altima’s standard AWD, core safety tech, and basic infotainment without paying for extras.
• SR trim: This is the sportier-looking choice, but it is still mainly about trim and equipment rather than a major performance upgrade.
• SR Premium: This is the best-value trim if you want the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless charging, Bose audio, paddle shifters, and ProPilot Assist.
• Platinum: Choose this if you want the most fully equipped Altima, including the surround-view camera system and the most premium feature set.

Safety-wise, ProPilot Assist is included only on SR Premium and Platinum, while the standard Safety Shield 360 suite is on every trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Nissan Altima?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 96 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.96% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $22,757 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Nissan Altima's resale value?

The current average of $22,857 CAD sits slightly below last year's $26,877 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Altima has become more affordable for used buyers, which can make it easier to move if you price yours competitively later. The softer market also means future sellers may need to be realistic about condition, mileage, and trim to stand out.

Because the model has standard AWD, strong safety equipment, and broad appeal as a practical sedan, well-kept examples should still attract interest. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Nissan Altima safe?

The 2023 Nissan Altima earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA and a five-star rollover resistance rating, though it receives four-star ratings for front passenger frontal impact safety. It earns a Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS, but the updated IIHS side-impact test returns a Poor rating.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 is standard on every version and includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a driver monitoring system, rear-seat reminder, Easy Fill Tire Alert, rear automatic braking, and automatic high-beam headlights. ProPilot Assist is standard on SR Premium and Platinum, adding adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, and lane-centring assist.

The main caveat is the weak IIHS side-impact result, so you should pay close attention to crash protection priorities if safety is your top concern.

Should I buy a 2023 Nissan Altima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.96% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines standard AWD, strong safety tech, and easy-to-use technology in a shrinking sedan segment.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $23,175 CAD, the 2022 costs more than the current year's $22,857 CAD average.
• It offers a simpler three-trim lineup with a sporty Midnight Edition package on the SR.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $26,041 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $22,857 CAD average.
• It adds subtle updates and an upgraded touchscreen display on higher trims.

The bottom line: The 2023 is the best all-around pick if you want the strongest mix of value, standard AWD, and safety tech. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2022 can still make sense, but the 2023’s softer pricing and broader feature set make it the more compelling buy.
