Is the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.3/10 expert rating. The model scores 7/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Safety.

The GLC is aimed at you if you want a compact luxury SUV that feels polished, upscale, and comfortable rather than flashy. Its strengths are straightforward: premium interior materials, a refined cabin, and fuel efficiency. The trade-offs are just as clear: it does not offer much cargo space, and it is not especially exciting to drive.

The market also shows 33.0% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The GLC’s appeal is built around comfort, refinement, and a premium feel, and the expert assessment reinforces that it is a polished small luxury SUV. Its smooth power delivery and quiet cabin support the impression of a well-sorted daily driver. The performance notes also point to a calm, confidence-inspiring road manner rather than a finicky one.

Mercedes also positions the GLC with a 48-volt mild-hybrid setup, which helps the powertrain feel smooth and efficient in everyday use. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the GLC’s luxury focus comes with limited cargo space and a driving character that may feel less engaging over time if you want more excitement.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The standard GLC 300 is the redesigned model, while the GLC Coupe models are carryovers with an older interior layout and a coupe-like roofline. The Coupe also comes standard with cross-traffic alerts and the surround-view camera, while the new GLC 300 does not.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with a 48-volt mild-hybrid system, paired with a 9-speed automatic and standard 4Matic all-wheel drive in Canada. It is smooth and efficient, but not as lively as some rivals.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, a blind-spot monitor, adaptive headlights with automatic high beams, and a driver attention monitor. The optional Intelligent Drive package adds adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, evasive steering assist, lane change assist, and emergency stop assist.
• Infotainment: The cabin centres on a large 11.9-inch touchscreen, and standard connectivity includes wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The system also supports voice control, though the layout can be distracting because of the screen’s lower placement and limited physical controls.
• Fuel efficiency: The GLC 300 is estimated at 10.4 L/100 km in city driving, 9.1 L/100 km on the highway, and 9.8 L/100 km combined.

Which 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC trim should I buy?

The 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC is offered in 1 trim level: GLC 300.

Here's the short version:

The GLC 300 is the one to focus on if you want the redesigned SUV with the best balance of comfort, premium materials, and efficiency. It brings the new cabin layout, standard 4Matic all-wheel drive, and the smooth 2.0-litre mild-hybrid powertrain, making it the best-value choice for most shoppers. If you want the older Coupe body style, know that it carries over with a different setup and a few usability advantages, but the standard GLC 300 is the smarter buy for most used shoppers.

The safety package is strongest when you add the optional Intelligent Drive package, which brings the key driver-assistance upgrades.

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 342 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.79% compared with last year.

What is the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC's resale value?

The current average of $48,524 CAD sits slightly below last year's $55,009 CAD.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled enough to give you more negotiating room today, but it also means a future seller may need to price competitively to stand out. Because the year-round low is close to the current average, well-priced examples should still attract attention. If you buy carefully now, you may be able to limit depreciation pressure later by choosing a listing near the lower end of the range.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLC or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 33.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.79% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It brings the redesigned cabin and a conservative, upscale feel that suits everyday luxury use.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $52,814 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $48,524 CAD average.
• It adds a more polished ride and stronger safety credentials.

The bottom line: If you want the better-value path, the 2023 is the smarter buy because it already delivers the redesigned GLC experience at a lower average price. If you are willing to spend more for a newer model-year update and a more polished overall package, the 2024 is the better secondary path.
