CarGurus Analysis: 2023 Lexus IS
Summary
With 77 currently listed for sale and an average price of $43,683 CAD, 18.2% of 2023 Lexus IS listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favourably reviewed: Owners rated the 2023 Lexus IS 4.8 / 5 stars.
Why it stands out
The 2023 Lexus IS stands out as a compact luxury sports sedan that leans into driving enjoyment without abandoning everyday comfort. It sits at the entry point of the Lexus lineup, which helps explain its appeal to younger buyers and shoppers who want a comparatively low price point in a premium badge. It is also a good fit for people who rarely carry passengers, although its back seat is notably tight, so it is less convincing as a family car.
For 2023, the IS benefits from the third-generation updates that brought Apple CarPlay and Android Auto into the infotainment system, along with a touchscreen display update. Standard equipment includes NuLuxe synthetic leather seats, heated front seats, an eight-inch infotainment screen, passive entry, push-button start, dual automatic climate controls, and 18-inch wheels. Lexus Safety System+ is standard as well, bringing automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and lane trace assist, while blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also standard. Available upgrades include a 17-speaker Mark Levinson premium audio system, a power moonroof, and a 10.3-inch infotainment screen with navigation.
Its strengths are balanced by a few familiar compromises. The IS is praised for being fun to drive, easy to use, and well equipped with standard safety features, but it does not offer much cargo space and its rear seats are cramped. Even so, the 2023 Lexus IS remains appealing for buyers who want a stylish, compact luxury sedan with a sporty character and a strong list of standard technology.

How much does the 2023 Lexus IS cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $43,739 CAD |
| Year-Round Low | $43,273 CAD |
| Year-Round High | $46,600 CAD |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $45,079 CAD |
| Change vs. Last Year | −2.97% |
Prices have softened 2.97% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.
There are 78 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of choice in the used market.
Is the 2023 Lexus IS a good car?
Yes — the 2023 Lexus IS earns a 4.8/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its sporty design, smooth performance, and luxurious interior, and many also highlight its great handling and good value for money. It fits you best if you want a compact luxury sports sedan with a driver-focused feel and a premium badge, especially if you rarely carry passengers. With 19.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2023 Lexus IS reliable?
Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with reviewers highlighting the car’s smooth performance and overall quality. That kind of long-term confidence matters if you want a used luxury sedan you can count on.
For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about outright reliability and more about living with the car’s tighter packaging and premium-car running costs.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Lexus IS?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.
- Deal availability: 19.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 78 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.97% compared with last year.
If you find a listing below $43,273 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2023 Lexus IS's resale value?
The current average of $43,739 CAD sits slightly below last year's $45,079 CAD.
That softer pricing suggests the model is holding value reasonably well, but not aggressively appreciating in the used market. If you buy now, you may benefit from a more favourable entry price than a seller saw a year ago. For a future seller, that means resale should remain supported as long as the car stays clean, well maintained, and competitively priced against similar luxury sedans.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Should I buy a 2023 Lexus IS or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2023 if:
- 19.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 2.97% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
Consider the 2022 if:
- At $39,885 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $43,739 CAD average.
- It adds a more performance-focused edge.
The bottom line: Choose the 2023 if you want the newer price trend and strong owner satisfaction in a compact luxury sedan. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2022 is the better value path and may suit you if performance matters more than paying the current-year average.
