Used 2023 Jeep Compass for SaleNationwide

How much does the 2023 Jeep Compass cost?

Prices have softened 14.39% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 432 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Jeep Compass a good car?

Generally — the 2023 Jeep Compass earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

Owners commonly praise its stylish design, upgraded interior, and improved safety features. The larger touchscreen and advanced technology also come up repeatedly as reasons it feels more user-friendly and more luxurious. At the same time, the expert review points to poor value for the money and poor visibility, while the cramped back seat remains a practical compromise.

For you, that means the Compass makes the most sense if you want a small SUV with a more upscale feel, strong tech, and a more capable personality than older versions. It is less compelling if your priority is maximum space or the best value in the segment.

There are 29.9% of listings priced as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Jeep Compass reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a vehicle that feels dependable enough to live with, with many drivers describing it as a solid compact SUV choice. The expert review adds that the new turbocharged engine is quieter, smoother, and more refined, and that the new eight-speed automatic shifts flawlessly.

Jeep also adds a standard drowsy driver detection system and a rear-seat reminder system, which supports everyday peace of mind. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the Compass still carries value and packaging compromises, so condition and maintenance history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Jeep Compass?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup ranges from Sport to Trailhawk Elite, and the base Sport misses automatic high-beam headlights. Higher trims add a more upscale look and feel, while the Trailhawk trims are the ones intended for exploring off the beaten path.
• Powertrain: You get a new turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 200 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque, paired with a new eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. Jeep tuned it for fuel economy and regular fuel use, so it is not as powerful as it could be.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control with stop and go come in at the North grade.
• Infotainment: Every model gets a 10.1-inch touchscreen with Uconnect 5, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth for two devices, SiriusXM satellite radio, SiriusXM Guardian connected services with Wi-Fi access, and over-the-air updates.
• Fuel efficiency: The official Natural Resources Canada fuel economy rating is 8.8 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving, and the review’s real-world average was 9.9 L/100 km.

Which 2023 Jeep Compass trim should I buy?

The 2023 Jeep Compass is offered in 7 trim levels: Sport, North, Altitude, Trailhawk, Limited, (Red) Edition, and Trailhawk Elite.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, but it misses automatic high-beam headlights, so it is best only if you want the lowest-cost way into the Compass lineup.
• North: This is the best-value trim because it adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control with stop and go, making it the smartest everyday pick.
• Altitude: Choose this if you want a more upscale appearance and a step up in presentation without jumping straight to the pricier upper trims.
• Trailhawk: This is the one to buy if you want the most off-road-focused Compass, with Jeep Active Drive Low, a low range, a 20:1 crawl ratio, skid plates, recovery hooks, and a Rock mode.
• Limited: Pick this if you want the most polished on-road experience and the richest tech content, including the larger digital display and available premium audio and navigation features.
• (Red) Edition: This is for shoppers who want a distinctive special-edition look and a more exclusive feel.
• Trailhawk Elite: This is the most feature-rich Trailhawk choice if you want the off-road hardware plus a more upscale trim experience.

The safety package starts with the base Sport and expands at the North grade, so that trim is the key step up for most used buyers.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Jeep Compass?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 432 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.39% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $27,268 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Jeep Compass's resale value?

The current average of $27,510 CAD sits slightly below last year's $32,133 CAD.

That price drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside for a future seller. If you buy at the current average, you are starting from a lower baseline than last year’s market. That can make depreciation feel less steep in the short term, but resale will still depend on trim, condition, and mileage.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Jeep Compass safe?

The 2023 Jeep Compass earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Jeep adds a standard drowsy driver detection system and a rear-seat reminder system for 2023. Standard advanced driver-assistance features include forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control with stop and go are included starting at the North grade, while traffic sign recognition and front and rear parking sensors are available upgrades.

The review also notes that lane-keeping inputs can feel too obvious and that adaptive cruise control is not especially smooth. IIHS results were incomplete at the time of the review, so the Compass was not yet eligible for a current Top Safety Pick rating.

Should I buy a 2023 Jeep Compass or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 29.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.39% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 brings a new turbocharged engine, standard all-wheel drive, and more advanced tech.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $23,671 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $27,510 CAD average.
• It offers a more premium-feeling compact SUV with Jeep’s off-road identity.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $28,153 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $27,510 CAD average.
• It adds good tech and impressive safety features with a sub-$40,000 base MSRP.

The bottom line: The 2023 is the right pick if you want the major powertrain upgrade and strong tech without paying new-model pricing. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2022 can be the better value play, while the 2024 is worth a look if you want the newer-year polish and can stretch a bit more.
