How much does the 2023 Jeep Compass cost?

Prices have softened 16.49% compared to this time last year, making it a favourable time to shop this model year.

There are 461 listings available, which suggests you should have a reasonable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Jeep Compass a good car?

Generally — the 2023 Jeep Compass earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating, which points to a mixed but improved small SUV. The standout strength is Technology at 9/10.

Owners commonly praise its stylish design, upgraded interior, and improved safety features. The larger touchscreen and advanced technology also come through as recurring positives, and many shoppers see it as a solid compact SUV choice.

The trade-offs are clear: the expert feedback calls out poor value for the money, poor visibility, and a cramped back seat. That matters if you want a small SUV that feels easy to live with every day rather than one that mainly wins on style and equipment.

If you want a compact SUV with a more upscale feel, standard all-wheel drive, and strong tech, this Compass fits that brief better than older versions. The market also shows 32.8% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Jeep Compass reliable?

Owners rate it 4.4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a vehicle that feels dependable enough for many shoppers, with praise centred on its improved safety features, upgraded interior, and overall solid compact SUV character. The expert road test adds that the new turbocharged engine is quieter, smoother, and more refined, and the transmission shifts flawlessly, which supports confidence in day-to-day use.

Jeep also improved the Compass with a new engine, updated equipment, and added standard features, which helps reduce some of the long-running concerns around the model. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the Compass still carries value and packaging compromises, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Jeep Compass?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes Sport, North, Altitude, Trailhawk, Limited, (Red) Edition, and Trailhawk Elite. The base Sport misses automatic high-beam headlights, while the Trailhawk trims are the ones aimed at exploring off the beaten path.
• Powertrain: You get a new turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 200 horsepower and 221 lb-ft of torque, paired with a new eight-speed automatic transmission and standard Jeep Active Drive all-wheel drive. It is smoother and more refined than before, but it is tuned for fuel economy rather than maximum punch.
• Safety package: Standard driver assistance includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and lane-keeping assist. North adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control with stop and go capability.
• Infotainment: Every model gets a 10.1-inch touchscreen with Uconnect 5, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth for two devices, SiriusXM satellite radio, SiriusXM Guardian connected services with Wi-Fi access, and over-the-air updates. Depending on trim, you can also get a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel, embedded navigation, a nine-speaker Alpine sound system, and Alexa Built-in.
• Fuel efficiency: The official Natural Resources Canada fuel economy rating is 8.8 litres per 100 kilometres in combined driving, and the test vehicle averaged 9.9 L/100 km.

Which 2023 Jeep Compass trim should I buy?

The 2023 Jeep Compass is offered in 7 trim levels: Sport, North, Altitude, Trailhawk, Limited, (Red) Edition, and Trailhawk Elite.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, but you give up automatic high-beam headlights, so it makes the most sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the Compass and can live with fewer extras.
• North: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control with stop and go capability.
• Altitude: Choose this if you want a more style-focused Compass without jumping all the way to the pricier upper trims.
• Trailhawk: This is the one to buy if you want the Compass’s strongest off-road character, with Jeep Active Drive Low, a low range, a 20:1 crawl ratio, Rock mode, skid plates, recovery hooks, and more ground clearance.
• Limited: This is the most upscale mainstream choice, with the richer cabin presentation, larger available displays, and the strongest luxury feel in the lineup.
• (Red) Edition: Pick this if you want a special-edition look and are willing to pay for it.
• Trailhawk Elite: This is the most feature-rich Trailhawk choice if you want the off-road hardware plus a more premium equipment mix.

The safety package starts with strong standard ADAS, while North is the key trim for adding the most important extra driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Jeep Compass?

The market looks moderate and selective, so you can shop with some leverage if you compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 461 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.49% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $27,374 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Jeep Compass's resale value?

The current average of $27,374 CAD sits slightly below last year's $32,780 CAD.

That price drop suggests the Compass has already absorbed a meaningful amount of depreciation, which can help future sellers if they buy at the right price. If you purchase near the current average or below it, you may have a better chance of limiting your loss later.

The model’s improved equipment and stronger owner satisfaction should help support demand, especially among shoppers who want a well-equipped compact SUV. Still, the current market shows that buyers are price-sensitive, so resale will likely depend on trim, condition, and how well the vehicle is equipped.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Jeep Compass safe?

The 2023 Jeep Compass earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS, and it had not yet received published NHTSA results at the time of review.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety equipment includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian and cyclist detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, a drowsy driver detection system, and a rear-seat reminder system. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control with stop and go capability are included starting at North, while traffic sign recognition and front and rear parking sensors are available upgrades.

There are a couple of caveats to keep in mind: lane-keeping inputs can feel too obvious, and the adaptive cruise control is not especially smooth when braking or maintaining distance. The base Sport also misses automatic high-beam headlights.

Should I buy a 2023 Jeep Compass or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 16.49% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• It brings a new turbocharged engine, standard all-wheel drive, and more sophisticated tech and safety equipment.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $23,758 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $27,374 CAD average.
• It offers a more premium-feeling Compass with Jeep’s off-road credibility and upscale trim appeal.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $28,407 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $27,374 CAD average.
• It adds a sub-$40,000 base MSRP with strong value at the entry level and improved overall polish.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of updated powertrain, standard equipment, and current-market pricing, the 2023 is the main one to target. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2022 can save you money, while the 2024 is worth a look if you want the newer model-year value story and can stretch a bit.
