The 2023 Sonata is presented as a well-equipped, comfort-focused midsize sedan with a strong value proposition and a broad range of powertrains. Its standard safety and convenience equipment is extensive, and its overall package is aimed at everyday usability rather than flash.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific car you choose has been maintained properly, especially if you want to avoid surprises as the kilometres add up.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Hyundai Sonata?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 38.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 121 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.77% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $23,413 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Hyundai Sonata's resale value?

The current average of $23,416 CAD sits slightly below last year's $26,538 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Sonata has become more accessible for buyers, but it also means a future seller may face a softer market than someone who bought a year earlier. If you plan to resell later, the current pricing trend points to a model that may need to be priced competitively to move quickly.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Hyundai Sonata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 38.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.77% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $21,277 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $23,416 CAD average.
• It delivers exceptional value and quality.

The bottom line: Choose the 2023 if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, inventory, and satisfaction. If your priority is spending less upfront, the 2022 is the better value-focused alternative.
