Is the 2023 Hyundai Sonata a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction. The 2023 Sonata stands out as a midsize sedan that leans hard into style, equipment, and value, with a roomy back seat and trunk, a pretty interior, and a long list of standard tech and safety features. It is best suited to you if you want a relaxing, well-equipped cruiser rather than a sporty sedan, and if you value a distinctive design over all-wheel-drive capability. With 22.0% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Hyundai Sonata reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 Sonata is described as having a generally good reputation for safety and reliability in this generation, alongside a strong equipment list and everyday comfort. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific car has been maintained properly, especially if you want to avoid surprises as the vehicle ages.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Hyundai Sonata?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can afford to compare listings carefully before committing.

• Deal availability: 22.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 118 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.46% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $24,024 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Hyundai Sonata's resale value?

The current average of $24,420 CAD sits slightly below last year's $27,581 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Sonata has softened in the used market, which can make it easier for you to buy now but may also limit short-term upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the current trend means you should expect pricing pressure unless the car is especially well equipped, lightly used, or priced competitively. Strong value and broad appeal can still help it hold attention with shoppers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Hyundai Sonata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 22.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.46% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $22,323 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $24,420 CAD average.
• It offers tremendous value and a surprisingly sporty N Line variant.

The bottom line: Choose the 2023 if you want the stronger current-market balance of price, inventory, and owner satisfaction. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2022 is the better value-focused alternative, especially if you like the Sonata’s distinctive character and practical strengths.
