Is the 2024 Hyundai Sonata a good car?

The 2024 Hyundai Sonata stands out as a midsize sedan that blends distinctive styling with a long list of standard equipment. For 2024, Hyundai gave it a major refresh with new front and rear styling, and inside the dashboard was completely redesigned to integrate a pair of 12.3-inch screens, wireless CarPlay and Android Auto, and a different style of gear selector.

It also comes with an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, USB ports, heated front seats, and a heated, leather-wrapped steering wheel, while safety tech such as adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, rear seat reminders, driver-attention warnings, and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection is included.

It is also appealing because it offers a roomy, well-equipped cabin and a relaxed driving character. The Sonata has above-average interior and trunk space, though less than the Honda Accord, and it is described as a relaxing, well-equipped cruiser rather than a sporty sedan.

34.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that you should expect a mainstream midsize sedan’s usual maintenance and repair exposure rather than a low-complexity bargain.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2024 Hyundai Sonata?

This looks like a moderate buyer’s market, so you can be selective without needing to rush.

• Deal availability: 34.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 149 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.04% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $28,862 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2024 Hyundai Sonata's resale value?

The current average of $28,862 CAD sits slightly below last year's $33,970 CAD.

That price movement suggests the Sonata has become more accessible for buyers, which can help demand in the near term. For a future seller, it also means you may need to price competitively if the market stays soft. If you buy well now, you have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later.

Should I buy a 2024 Hyundai Sonata or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2024 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2024 if:

• 34.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 15.04% compared with last year.

Consider the 2025 if:

• At $31,929 CAD, the 2025 costs more than the current year's $28,862 CAD average.
• It adds improved crash-test ratings and rear-seat air vents.

The bottom line: choose the 2024 if you want the better value and more room to negotiate. If you are willing to pay more for updated safety improvements and a newer model year, the 2025 is the better secondary path.
