Is the 2023 Hyundai Palisade a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Hyundai Palisade earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, Technology, and Safety.

Owners consistently praise its value, spaciousness, and comfortable ride, and they especially like how the third row accommodates taller passengers better than competitors. The main trade-offs are that some drivers want more engine power and would prefer features such as folding side view mirrors and wireless Apple CarPlay.

For a family-focused three-row SUV, the Palisade’s comfort, equipment, and roomy cabin make it especially appealing if you want a well-equipped daily driver with strong practicality. With 31.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2023 Hyundai Palisade reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with owners repeatedly highlighting the Palisade’s value, comfort, and strong feature content. The expert assessment also supports that impression by noting Hyundai’s strong warranty coverage and the model’s solid overall ownership proposition.

The Palisade’s long warranty coverage helps reduce some used-buying risk, but you should still check service history carefully on any higher-mileage example.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Hyundai Palisade?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Preferred trim is the most basic version, with cloth seats, a single sunroof, and fewer luxury touches than the higher trims. Urban adds leatherette upholstery, ventilated front seats, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and more premium convenience features, while Ultimate Calligraphy brings the most upscale presentation with Nappa leather, ventilated rear seats, a dual-pane sunroof, and additional exterior and interior detailing.
• Powertrain: You get one powertrain: a 3.8-litre V6 with 291 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It is tuned for comfortable family use rather than outright excitement, and the ride quality is a bigger strength than rock-crawling ability.
• Safety package: Hyundai Smart Sense is standard, with forward collision avoidance, driver attention warning, high beam assist, lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, blind-spot collision avoidance, rear cross-traffic collision avoidance, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, safe exit warning, and rear seat occupant alert. Highway Driving Assist I is standard on Urban, while Highway Driving Assist II is standard on Ultimate Calligraphy.
• Infotainment: A 12.3-inch colour touchscreen is standard, along with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, HD Radio, SiriusXM satellite radio, and Bluetooth connectivity. Wireless charging is standard on Ultimate Calligraphy, and the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster is standard on Urban and Ultimate Calligraphy.
• Fuel efficiency: The Palisade consumes 12.6 L/100 km in city driving, 9.5 L/100 km on the highway, and 11.2 L/100 km combined.

Which 2023 Hyundai Palisade trim should I buy?

The 2023 Hyundai Palisade is offered in 3 trim levels: Preferred, Urban, and Ultimate Calligraphy.

Here's the short version:

• Preferred: This is the value-focused choice if you want the Palisade’s core strengths without paying for the upper-trim luxury extras. It still gives you the standard safety suite, the 12.3-inch touchscreen, heated front seats, a heated steering wheel, heated second-row seats, and the full-size family utility that makes the Palisade appealing in the first place.
• Urban: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more premium feel without jumping all the way to the top model. You get leatherette upholstery, ventilated front seats, the 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, the Harman Kardon audio system, and Highway Driving Assist I, making it the sweet spot for comfort and tech.
• Ultimate Calligraphy: Choose this if you want the most upscale Palisade experience. It adds Nappa leather, ventilated rear seats, a dual-pane sunroof, a head-up display, Highway Driving Assist II, rain-sensing wipers, and the most distinctive exterior and interior detailing.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, but Urban and Ultimate Calligraphy add extra driver-assistance capability.

• Inventory: There are 378 listings available.

What is the 2023 Hyundai Palisade's resale value?

The current average of $39,303 CAD sits slightly below last year's $45,966 CAD.

That decline suggests the market has become more favourable for buyers, which can make the Palisade easier to purchase now than it was a year ago. For future sellers, the softer pricing means you may need to be more competitive if you want to stand out. Should I buy a 2023 Hyundai Palisade or consider a different year?

Choose the 2023 if:

• 31.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.50% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 adds a facelift plus more standard and optional tech and safety features.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $32,444 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $39,303 CAD average.
• It offers standard all-wheel drive and a spacious, family-friendly cabin.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $42,933 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $39,303 CAD average.
• It builds on the refreshed design with upscale materials and thoughtful amenities.
