Is the 2023 Hyundai Kona a good car?

Yes — 5/5 is a strong user rating for the 2023 Hyundai Kona. It stands out for its refreshed styling, larger infotainment touchscreen, standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and adaptive cruise control that can bring the vehicle to a complete stop. You also get the Kona’s distinctive design and available turbocharged performance, which makes it more engaging than a basic commuter SUV. For you, that means a small SUV with personality and a strong equipment list for the money. With 28.5% of listings marked as good or great deals, there is still meaningful market choice if you want to shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Hyundai Kona reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 Hyundai Kona’s appeal comes from its refreshed first-generation design, updated technology, and available performance-oriented variants. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that its compact cabin and limited cargo space may feel restrictive if you need more room over time.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Hyundai Kona?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile options.

• Deal availability: 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 534 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.90% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $23,245 CAD, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Hyundai Kona's resale value?

The current average of $23,245 CAD sits slightly below last year's $26,386 CAD.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favourable point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays soft. If you plan to sell later, the Kona’s value will depend on how well it holds demand in a segment where shoppers have plenty of alternatives. A well-kept example with desirable equipment should still attract attention, especially if it is priced competitively.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Hyundai Kona or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 28.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.90% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $21,114 CAD, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $23,245 CAD average.
• It offers a refreshed look with upgraded performance and sporty variants.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $27,670 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $23,245 CAD average.
• It brings a new generation with updated tech and a more modern design.

The bottom line: The 2023 Hyundai Kona is the best fit if you want a refreshed, well-equipped small SUV at a softer price than the newer generation. If your priority is saving money, the 2022 is the better value play; if you want the newest design and technology, the 2024 is the upgrade path.
