What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid?

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Hybrid Touring is the only trim, and it brings a more premium cabin feel with high-quality materials, contrast stitching, 19-inch wheels, and a more upscale presentation than lower trims in the broader CR-V range.
• Powertrain: The hybrid pairs a 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with two electric motors for 204 horsepower and 247 lb-ft of torque, plus a CVT and standard all-wheel drive. It is tuned for responsiveness and efficiency rather than outright speed.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard, along with front and rear parking sensors, rain-sensing windshield wipers, traffic jam assist, traffic sign recognition, low-speed braking control, blind-spot monitoring, cross-traffic monitor, rear-seat reminder, and rear seatbelt reminder. Some trims marked with a B shipped without blind-spot monitoring and cross-traffic monitor due to parts shortages.
• Infotainment: You get a 9-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Wi-Fi capability, a wireless charging pad, and a 12-speaker Bose Premium audio system. The Hybrid Touring also adds Honda’s smart navigation system.
• Fuel efficiency: The CR-V Hybrid is estimated to consume 6.0 L/100 km in city driving, 6.9 L/100 km on the highway, and 6.4 L/100 km combined.

The current average of $37,475 CAD sits slightly below last year's $41,373 CAD.

Should I buy a 2023 Honda CR-V Hybrid or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 25.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.42% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 is the first Canadian CR-V Hybrid and brings standard advanced safety features plus a more upscale feel.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $39,673 CAD, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $37,475 CAD average.
• A new EX-L Hybrid trim lowers the entry point for the hybrid powertrain.

The bottom line: If you want the better current value, the 2023 is the smarter buy because prices have softened and owner satisfaction is strong. If you want a newer-year option with a lower-priced hybrid trim path, the 2024 is worth a look, especially if you are willing to pay a bit more for that added choice.
